Use as pH permanent test:
The current pH level of the aquarium, caused by the interaction of CO
2
and carbonate hardness, can be directly read and monitored using the
enclosed pH colour plates. However, this only applies if there are no
other substances dissolved in the water which influence the pH other
than CO
and carbonate hardness.
2
High nitrate levels, the use of liquid or powder substances to reduce or
increase the pH level, or filtering through peat etc. cause shifts in the pH
level which cannot be identified using the permanent test. It is therefore
advisable to check the pH level of your aquarium from time to time using
a JBL pH test set.
Choose the colour disk which suits the KH in your aquarium and position
it by completely covering the suction pad of the test device. If you still
want to continue to read the CO
content then position the pH colour
2
plate next to it.
Changing the indicator liquid
The indicator will slowly fade with time due to the influence of lighting.
We therefore recommend refilling the appliance every 3-4 weeks
when the regular partial change of water is carried out. At the same time
clean any algae coating carefully off the transparent container.
Any stubborn algae deposits or lime scale can be removed by soaking in
JBL PowerClean or JBL Clean A.
If the colour scale attached to the transparent lid should fade, this can
now also be replaced.
Important:
The correct colour reading is displayed after a time delay of approx.
2 – 3 hours!
The reagent solution is available as a refill from your retailer.
