Initial start-up and functions
1 Auto Remote
The UP 7BMW will be turned on automatically if
the highlevel inputs of the System Connector 1 are
used or if a signal is applied to the remote input
(REM) terminal or to the remote input of the System
Connector 2.
The Auto Remote switch allows to activate / deac-
tivate the automatic turn-on feature of the highlev-
el inputs of the System Connector 1. The feature
should be deactivated (Auto Remote = off) if the
UP 7BMW replaces the amplifier of the BMW HiFi
sound system (676) or if there are e.g. disturbing
noises while switching on / off the amplifier.
Note: The automatic turn-on feature is deactivated
ex works. If the automatic turn-on function is deacti-
vated it is mandatory to use the remote input (REM)
or to supply the Remote In of the System Connec-
tor 2 with a remote signal to power up the amplifier!
The highlevel signal will be ignored in this case.
2 System Connector 2
Please use this terminal only in combination with
the connection cable that is included in the delivery
of the amplifier. Never ever use any other harness-
es to connect the MATCH UP 7BMW to the factory
cable harness.
Caution: The use of other harnesses than the one
that is supplied with the amplifier may cause severe
harm to the amplifier, your head unit / car radio and
your loudspeakers. In any case the warranty will be
void!
3 Clipping LED
This LED lights up red if one of the four highlevel
inputs is overdriven. The LED has no function when
an input signal is applied to the digital input (Optical
Input) or to the MEC module.
4 System Connector 1
Please use this terminal only in combination with
the connection cable that is included in the delivery
of the amplifier. Never ever use any other harness-
es to connect the MATCH UP 7BMW to the factory
cable harness.
Caution: The use of other harnesses than the one
that is supplied with the amplifier may cause severe
harm to the amplifier, your head unit / car radio and
your loudspeakers. In any case the warranty will be
void!
5 Fuse LED
If a severe malfunction inside the amplifier will blow
the internal fuses the LED lights up red. The fus-
es may only be replaced by identically rated fuses
(2 x 25 A) to avoid damage of the amplifier.
6 +12 V
Optional connector for a +12 V power cable. The
+12 V power cable must be connected to the pos-
itive terminal of the battery. Recommended cross
section: min. 10 mm² / AWG 8.
Note: In the standard connection configuration the
amplifier is supplied with power via the factory cable
harness. Further information regarding connection
to power supply can be found on page 22, item 5;
Connection to power supply.
7 GND
Optional connector for the ground cable. The cable
should be connected to a common ground refer-
ence point (this is located where the negative termi-
nal of the battery is grounded to the metal body of
the vehicle) or to a prepared metal location on the
vehicle chassis i.e. an area which has been cleaned
of all paint residues. Recommended cross section:
min. 10 mm² / AWG 8.
Note: It is not mandatory to use this input if the
amplifier will be directly powered from the vehicle´s
harness. Further information regarding connection
to power supply can be found on page 22, item 5;
Connection to power supply.
8 REM
This input has to be used to turn on/off the amplifier
in case that the UP 7BMW will be applied in uni-
versal applications and the signal source which is
connected to the System Connector 1 and 2 is not
activating the "automatic turn-on" function (Auto
Remote) or if the amplifier shall only be activated /
deactivated by a remote signal applied to the re-
mote input.
The remote lead should be connected to the remote
output / automatic antenna (aerial positive) output
of the head unit / car radio. This is only activated
if the head unit / car radio is switched on. Thus the
amplifier is switched on and off together with the
head unit / car radio. This input does not have to be
used if the UP 7BMW replaces the amplifier of the
BMW HiFi sound system (676).
