5.3 Using the gas detector

NOTE
Before commissioning and
using the gas leak detector,
please charge the battery pack
integrated in the device using
the charging adapter provided
(see also chapter 6. Charging
the integrated battery pack).
5.3.1

Switching the device on

Press and hold the ON/OFF button for
at least 2 seconds (until you hear a
short acoustic signal). The device is now
switched on.
The LED will briefly illuminate yellow.
The LC display will briefly show the
available segments and symbols.
The LED will then flash green and the LC
display will show HEAT for the heat-up
phase (duration up to 120 s). At the same
time, the bar graph on the bottom edge
of the display surface will show the
linear and cumulative progress of the
heat-up phase from left to right, with up
to 20 stages (segments).
Once the heat-up phase has completed,
the LC display will show the
concentration value 0 ppm and the LED
will light up green in the event that the
device does not detect any relevant gas.
The device is now ready to use.

Detecting gas leaks

Displaying the detected concentration
values and acoustic signalling
If the device detects a relevant gas, the
gas concentration value is indicated in the
LC display as follows, depending on the
measuring range:
0 ppm – 999 ppm
(display resolution 1 ppm)
0.1 vol % – 4 vol %
(display resolution 0.1 vol %)
At the same time, an intermittent acoustic
alarm sounds, which increases in speed as
the detected gas concentration rises (the
acoustic alarm can be turned on or off by
pressing the SET button).
At concentrations > 4 vol %
(40,000 ppm), the letters LEL are shown
to indicate the lower explosion limit and
a constant acoustic alarm is emitted.
The LEL indication can be reset
by briefly pressing the SET button
(1 acknowledgement signal is emitted,
the LC display will briefly show CLr)
Bar graph display of the detected
concentration values
The bar graph on the bottom edge of the
display surface shows the current concen-
tration level from left to right, linear and
cumulative, with up to 20 stages (segments).
