• If possible, always use freshly ground espresso powder to achieve an optimum fl a-
vour.
• The grinding fi neness of the espresso powder also has an infl uence on the aroma
and the crema.
• Do not press down the espresso powder too fi rmly. If the espresso powder is pressed
too much, this may increase the processing time, thus producing increased levels of
bitter compounds.
• Empty and clean the sieve insert after each use.
• Regularly clean and descale the device (see the "Care and Storage" chapter – "Des-
caling"). A dirty and / or furred-up device compromises the fl avour.

1. Fill the water tank (2) (see the "Handling and Operation" chapter – "Filling the Water
Tank").
2. Switch on the device by pressing the
lights up and the device heats up to around 90 – 100°C.
PLEASE NOTE: The
vice is switched on, otherwise the brewing process starts immediately.
3. Fill the sieve insert (14) in the portafi lter (8) with espresso powder (see the "Handling
and Operation" chapter – "Filling the Portafi lter").
4. Insert the portafi lter into the device (see the "Handling and Operation" chapter – "In-
serting the Portafi lter into the Device").
5. Place one or two suitable cup(s) on the storage plate (7) under the portafi lter.
With two cups make sure that they are each positioned next to each other below
an outlet under the portafi lter.
6. As soon as the espresso control lamp
