Switches
The device has three switches:
The steam button (12) starts heating up the water to a high temperature.
The espresso button (11) starts and ends the brewing process.
The On / Off switch (10) switches the device on and starts the process of heating
up to a temperature of approx. 80 – 100°C.
The espresso button must be switched off before the device is switched on,
otherwise the brewing process starts immediately.
Steam Power Control
The steam power control (4) is used to start the emission of steam and regulate the
amount of steam. The further to the left the steam power control is turned, the more
steam is emitted.
To stop the emission of steam, the steam power control must be turned all the way to
the right again.
The steam power control must be turned all the way to the right before the device
is switched on in order to prevent an unwanted emission of steam.
Hotplate
The cups can be preheated on the hotplate (13).
As soon as the device starts heating the water in the water tank (2), the hotplate is auto-
matically heated at the same time.
Inserting / Removing the Drip Tray
The device is supplied with a drip tray (6) because espresso may still drip from the por-
tafi lter (8) after the cup has been removed.
1. Insert the drip tray into the bottom of the device. Insert it at a slight angle so that it can
lock in place. Make sure that it fi ts correctly in the device.
2. Place the storage plate (7) on the drip tray.
3. To remove the drip tray, tilt it forwards slightly and carefully pull it out of the device.

Filling the Water Tank

1. Take the water tank (2) off the device by pulling it upwards (see Illustration A).
2. Open the water tank lid (1).
3. Pour water into the water tank. Fill it no higher than the MAX marking.
4. Close the water tank lid.
5. Insert the water tank into the device by sliding it into the device from above. When
you do this, make sure that the locking lugs of the water tank sit in the recesses which
are provided for them on the device.
Make sure that the water tank fi ts securely as otherwise water might escape.
