Instruction Manual UP2EL-14

5.2. Description of the pressing cycle
The pressing procedure is characterised by the shutting motion of
the pressing jaws. The pressing jaws will close scissors-like while
the drive rolls approach.
The pressing cycle is terminated when the pressing jaws closed
completely. This will be achieved by an definite drive force.
Reaching this drive force will be indicated by an acoustic signal.
Attention
In addition to that it has to be safeguarded by optical
means that the pressing jaws closed completely.
The pressing procedure can be interrupted at any moment by
releasing the trigger (Pos.-No. 1). It is though not possible after
having reached 2/3 of the max. pressing force to return the drive
rolls. Therefore a pressing cycle can not be made undone after
having reached the top 1/3 rd of the max. pressing force. This serves
to guarantee a proper pressing cycle. If the 1/3rd margin of the
pressing force has not yet been reached the pressing jaws can be
opened by returning the drive rolls. To do that directional control
switch has to be switched into reverse. In this case no acoustic
signal occurs.
After a successful pressing cycle the drive rolls can be returned into
their starting position by reversing the rotation of the spindle with
the directional control switch (Pos.-No. 2). Reaching this position
will be indicated by an acoustic signal. Afterwards the pressing jaws
can be opened again.
If a pressing cycle has been interrupted the fittings have to be either
dismantled or pressed a second time.
5.3. Explanation of the application range
The UP2EL-14 is a hand guided pressing tool to mount fittings on
sanitary tubes. The unit is not supposed to be restrained in a vise. It
is not allowed to use the tool in a stationary application.
The unit is not designed for continual use. After 50 consecutive
pressings, a 15 minute break is required to allow the unit to cool
down.
Attention
Too intensive use can cause heat damages for the
tool
Attention
During the operation of electric engines sparks can
occur which might ignite highly inflammable or
explosive liquids and materials
Attention
Electric-hydraulic pressing tools must not be
operated in pouring rain or under water.
5.4. Mounting instructions
Please reference the assembly manual of the manufacturer before
mounting the fittings on the tubes. The crimping jaw must close
completely at the tip as well as at the T-joint. In order to safeguard a
proper pressing the machine must only be used with pressing jaws
recommended by the provider of the tube system. Do not use bent or
damaged jaws.
Remark
As the tool manufacturer we offer perfectly designed
pressing jaws for all known systems and tube
dimensions. Special designs and customer solutions
upon request.
6. Storage and transport of the pressing tool
In order to protect the tool against damages it has to be cleaned
carefully after every use and be put into the transportation case
which has to be closed safely.
7. Service and maintenance instruction
The reliable performance of the tool is dependent on careful
treatment and service. This represents an important condition to
safeguard a lasting connection. To safeguard this the tool have to be
maintained and serviced regularly. We would like to draw your
attention to the following points:
1. The electric tool have to be cleaned and dried after each use
before being put into the transportation case.
2. Guidance and bolts should be greased if necessary.
3. In order to guaranty a proper function of the machine the pressing
tool should be returned to the manufacturer after each year or
after 10.000 pressing cycles.
4. Check through test crimps or have the tool manufacturer check
the tool and pressing jaws regularly for proper function.
5. Keep pressing jaws clean. Remove dirt with a brush.
In order to avoid possible malfunctions we offer you a manufacturer
service consisting of disassembly, cleaning, exchange of possibly
worn out parts assembly and final control.
Only a clean and properly functioning press system can over the
time safeguard a leaking free connection.
8. Reference as to which spare parts can be exchanged by the
customer
Within the determined use of the tool only the pressing jaws are
permitted to be changed by the customer.
Attention
Do not open the tool.
If the seal is damaged the warranty is invalidated.
9. Troubleshooting
a.) If the following disturbances occur the pressing tool must be
returned to the manufacturer:
1. No acoustic signal occurs from the coupling
2. The motor doesn't run (coal brushes are worn out)
3. Parts of the pressing unit are worn out or damaged.
b.) If dirt and small parts are blocking the drive rolls the pressing
tool has to be cleaned thoroughly.
10. Putting out of operation/waste disposal
After intensive use even a high-quality tool has to be put out of
operation.
Please regard the environmental guideline when the tool will be
disposed of.
Because of possible environmental damages we recommend to
dispose of the tool by professional companies.
Attention
Do not dispose of the unit in your residential waste
because it will finally end up on the waste dump
which would be hazardous for the environment.
A return of the old tool free of charge to the manufacturer cannot be
granted.
