3 Applications
The mixer MPX-4200 allows connection of the follow-
ing units which may be faded in/faded out or mixed
with one another via the six input channels:
Channels 1 and 2
two microphones each (internally connected in parallel)
Channels 3 and 4
a turntable with magnetic system or a unit with line out-
put each (e. g. tuner, CD player, tape deck)
Channels 5 and 6
a unit with line output each
4 Connection
Always switch off the mixer and the audio units con-
nected before making or changing any connections.
1) Connect microphones to the jacks MIC 1 (4),
MIC 2 (5), MIC 3 (16), and MIC 4 (15).
The jacks MIC 1 and MIC 3 are connected in
parallel, i. e. the microphones connected to these
jacks will be faded in/faded out or controlled in level
together. The same applies to the jacks MIC 2 and
MIC 4. For connecting only two microphones, use
the jacks MIC 1 or MIC 3 and MIC 2 or MIC 4.
2) Connect turntables with magnetic system to the
jacks PHONO 1 and PHONO 2 (14). Clamp the
ground cables of the turntables (if provided) to the
ground screw
(17).
3) Connect audio units with a line output (e. g. tuner,
CD player, tape deck) to the jacks LINE 1 – 4 (13
and 14).
4) Connect the amplifier for the speaker systems to
the jacks AMP (12). If the jacks REC (11) are not
used for a recorder, a second amplifier may be
connected here, if required.
5) For sound recordings, a recorder may be connect-
ed to the jacks REC (11).
6) Finally connect the plug of the mains cable (10) to a
mains jack (230 V~/50 Hz).
5 Operation
Prior to switching on, it is recommended to set the slid-
ing controls (6) of the input channels to zero to prevent
switching noise. Switch on the mixer with the POWER
switch (3), then switch on the units connected.
Caution!
Never adjust the audio system or the headphones to
a very high volume. Permanent high volumes may
damage your hearing! The human ear will get accus-
tomed to high volumes which do not seem to be that
high after some time. Therefore, do not further in-
crease a high volume after getting used to it.
After operation, switch off the mixer with the POWER
switch.

3) Use the sliding controls (6) to mix the input signals

5.2 Monitoring the channels

The monitoring function allows to monitor each input
channel via headphones. The level of the signal monitor-
ed is independent of the position of the corresponding
channel control (6). Thus, the signal is even audible with
the control completely closed which allows to time the
moment for fading in the corresponding audio source.
1) Connect headphones (minimum impedance 8 Ω) to
2) Select the channel to be monitored with the rotary

For this purpose, control the level of the channels
according to the VU-meter (2). Usually there is an
optimum level control if the VU-meter shows values
in the 0 dB range with passages of average volume.
If the output level is too high or too low for the follow-
ing unit, advance or close the controls accordingly.
Always set the controls of the channels which
are not used to zero.
