4.8 Playing music with AppleTV (not provided – available from dealers)
AppleTV allows you to download music/video data from the Internet and to play audio data
from the saved music/film material via the now! Sound Panel connected by cable.
Connect the cinch sockets of AppleTV (1
generation) to the input sockets AUX 1 or AUX 2,
st
or the Toslink socket of AppleTV (2
nd
generation) to the Toslink socket of the now! Sound
Panel. To do so, use a cinch-cinch cable or a Toslink cable. If you have connected AppleTV (1
or 2
generation) to your TV set via an HDMI cable, switch off the loudspeakers of the TV set
nd
using the mute button on the TV remote control. The audio signal of AppleTV is set to a fixed
level so that you can adjust the loudspeaker volume exclusively via the remote control of the
now! Sound Panel.
5 Connecting an active subwoofer
The now! Sound Panel allows you to connect an active subwoofer to the electronics unit via
the "Sub Out" sound output socket.
Connect the "Sub Out" output socket of the electronics unit to the analogue cinch input
socket of your active subwoofer. To do so, use a cinch-cinch cable. Please refer to the opera-
ting in-structions of the manufacturer for setting up the active subwoofer.
Note: The subwoofer to be connected must be an active subwoofer (loudspeaker with in-
te-grated amplifier). Since the entire frequency band (unfiltered) is played via the analogue
"Sub Out" output socket of the now! Sound Panel, the connected subwoofer should have
an active frequency separating filter so that a transfer frequency can be set (usually bet-
ween 60 Hz and 100 Hz). This is necessary because the subwoofer is only meant to play deep
tones/frequencies which can not be localised by the listener. This means that a connected
subwoofer can be operated at any place in the room and does not necessarily have to be
placed in the vicinity of the now! Sound Panel. The output level can be raised or lowered via
the remote control together with the overall volume level.
