Connection and operation of the hammer electrode for con-
ducting measurements inside wood - item no. 60 80 12
1. Place the measuring needle adapter on the measuring
needles of the HPM basic.
2. Place the measuring needles of the hammer electrode on
the appropriate object.
3. Use the hand knob to knock the measuring needles care-
fully into the wood until they have reached the desired
depth (max. 5 cm).
4. Connect the measuring needle adapter to the hammer
electrode in the wood.
5. Read the measured value from the instrument.

Maintenance

The HPM basic is a low-maintenance device. However, you
should follow these simple guidelines to ensure best possible
performance.
1. Always handle the device carefully. It is a measuring
instrument with sensitive electronics.
2. Avoid exposing the device to shock, continuous vibration or
extremely hot and cold temperatures.
3. Keep the device indoors at all times. When it is not in use,
always keep the device in its protective holster.
4. Keep the device away from dust and moisture. Clean with
a clean and soft cloth only. Do not use aggressive cleaning
agents.
5. Check the batteries regularly to avoid premature aging. If
you will not be using the device for an extended period of
time, always remove the batteries.
6. Replace the batteries when the battery charge message on
the LCD display reads "empty".
7. Do not disassemble the device.
8. Do not attempt to modify any part of the device.
