The position of the reference flag/groove determines the phase position of the reference
(zero) signal relative to the track signals. When using the GEL 214 Interpolation Elec-
tronics by Lenord+Bauer the reference flag/groove must be located exactly between
two teeth. With other interpolation electronics the specifications of the manufacturer are
to be observed.
4.2

Mounting

Only take the MiniCoder out of its protective package just before inserting it.
Mechanical impacts onto the measuring surface of the MiniCoder will damage the
system.
To avoid any damage, ensure that neither the target wheel nor the reference mark
nor any tool mechanically contact the 0.1mm-thin protective layer over the meas-
uring system.
Two different strengths of distance gauge are supplied with
the MiniCoder, depending on target wheel module.
The strength is printed on the distance gauge.
0.15 mm strength for module 0.3
0.20 mm strength for module 0.5
 Drill (and tap) the necessary holes into the sensor carrier plate (see the boring and
milling scheme

 Certain spindle assemblies may require the supplied screening sheet to be attached
to the sensor. Proper earthing of the MiniCoder is presumed for this measure to
become effective (cf. the footnote
Bend the screening sheet at the pre-
pared folding edges.
 Clean the sensor mounting area and screen connection area thoroughly; turn your
attention to a good electrical conductivity, which also concerns the fixing screws!

Attach the shielding cover (1) with 2
