Safety Notes

• This model may only be used with the operating system designed for it.
• Use only switched mode power supply units and transformers that are designed
for your local power system.
• This locomotive must never be supplied with power from more than one power
pack.
• Pay close attention to the safety notes in the instructions for your operating sys-
tem.
• Not for children under the age of 15.
• WARNING! Sharp edges and points required for operation.

Important Notes

• The operating instructions are a component part of the product and must therefore
be kept in a safe place as well as included with the product, if the latter is given to
someone else.

Functions

• This model is designed for operation on LGB two-rail DC systems with conventio-
nal LGB DC train controllers or power packs (DC, 0 - 24 volts).
• Interface for installation of DCC.
Note: Use a locomotive controller with more than 1 amp of train current for this
model.
Preparation
It may be possible that the coupler on the locomotive has to be adapted to the tender.
To do this, replace the coupler loop installed at the factory with the coupler hook
included with the tender (Figure 1).
Note: Do not couple several powered rail cars / locomotives with different running
characteristics, since this can lead to damage to their gear drives.
Connecting Cable:
The tender should be connected to the general-purpose socket on an LGB locomotive
in order to increase operating reliability. A connecting cable is included for this
purpose. Plug the connecting cable into the general-purpose socket on the front of
the tender and into the socket on the rear of the locomotive (Fig. 3).
A 9-volt battery can be installed (not included in delivery scope) so that the sound will
also work properly during slow running:
– Loosen the screw on the imitation coal pile (Figure 2).
– Remove the imitation coal pile.
– Connect the battery to the battery cable inside the tender.
– Put the model back together.
Important! Use high quality batteries such as „alkaline" batteries. Remove the batte-
ries if the model is not to be used for a long time. Used batteries must be disposed of
in an environmentally responsible way.
Remove the battery from the tender if the latter is not to be used for a long time.
Electronic Sound
This model has a volume controller on the underside (Fig. 4).
All of the sound functions described below can also be activated directly with the
multi-train system.

Controllable Functions

Sound effect: whistle blast
Sound effect: Bell
Steam Sounds: The chuffing for this model depends on the voltage present in the
rails, not on the speed of the tender. The chuffing will become faster when you
increase the voltage.
Bell and Whistle: The bell and whistle can be activated with the LGB sound activa-
tion magnets (17050) included with the tender. The activation magnet can be clipped
between the ties on most sections of LGB track. The magnet is located off center
under the imprinted LGB logo. Place the magnet on one side to activate the whistle
when the tender crosses over this spot. The bell will sound when you place the
magnet on the other side.
