Before using the appliance ensure that the voltage
indicated on the front of the bulb corresponds with
the mains voltage in your home.
Important
• Pain-killing preparations reduce the sen-
sitivity to heat. Infra-red treatment when using
such preparations is therefore not recom-
mended. If in doubt consult your doctor.
• Close your eyes when irradiating.
• Avoid sudden cooling of treated areas im-
mediately after treatment.
• Always place the lamp on a horizontal sur-
face. Do not suspend it from the wall or ceiling.
• Never spill water on the appliance.
• Do not use the lamp in bathrooms or in
showers.
• Do not place inflammable objects in the
beam of iight: combs or spectacle frames
made from certain plastics may be damaged
and fabrics may get scorched.
• Do not subject the lamp to heavy shocks.
Working of the "Infraphil"
The "Infraphil" produces infra-red Iight. This Iight
penetrates deep into the skin. The skin is
therefore heated, so that the blood vessels are
dilated and the flow of blood is stimulated. The
blood brings with it the substances for rebuilding
and nourishing the body tissues more rapidly
whereas decomposition products are more quickly
removed. The pores in the skin will also be further
opened under influence of the heat. These proper-
ties make the "Infraphil" extremely suitable for
therapeutic as well as for cosmetic applications.
Therapeutic applications
Infra-red Iight can promote the healing in some
cases and/or relieve the pain with rheumatic affec-
tions, colds, muscular pain, lumbago, bruises and
sprains.

The lamp should be placed
al
a distance from the
skin to be heated such that the heat leelscomfort-
able. Normally ± 30 cm (12") is ideal.
Treatment time
Generally a trealmenl of 15 minutes twice a day
giues a better result than 30 minutes once a day.
The treatment can be continued indefinitely.
Cosmetic applications
\fter all make-up has been removed, the pores in
the skin will be opened under influence of infra-
red Iight by which an effective cleansing of the
skin is possible.
Creams or other skin care agents are better ab-
sorbed under influence of infra-red light, and are
therefore most effective.
The "Infraphil" will also help to keep your skin
healthy and clean, because of its stimulating ef-
fect on the blood circulation.
Operating distance: The lamp should be placed
at a distance from the skin to be treated such that
the heat feels comfortable. Normally + 30 cm
(12") is ideal.
Cleaning and maintenance
The "Infraphil" can be cleaned with a cloth
damped with distilled water or alcohol, if so re-
quired. Before cleaning, however, the lamp must
be allowed to cool, and disconnected from the wall
socket.
The bulb must be replaced by an identical
"Infraphil" bulb.
Guarantee
Philips warrant this appliance for a period of one
year.
The guarantee is given against defects in material
and workmanship and comprises piece parts and
labour. Any costs of transport are on account of
buyer.
Apply to your Philips dealer or the Philips
organization in your country in case of a defect
producing
the
completed
guarantee
certificate (see the outside of the box).
The guarantee is not valid if the appliance has
been misused or if work has been carried out by
unqualified persons.
