PUTTING INTO OPERATION

Charging
Set the charging parameters as described under "Connection".
Connect the rechargeable battery observing the correct polarity and then plug the mains
plug into a mains socket (230V~/50Hz).
The charging process starts automatically. The "FAST" status indicator lamp lights up in
red (= charging).
Discharging
As to ensure that rechargeable batteries still work properly after a
longer period of time (without memory effect), it is recommended for
NiCd batteries to charge a battery pack only when it is completely
empty.
Moreover, the rechargeable batteries should be discharged once a
month and charged again (self-discharge, loss of capacity).
To discharge a partially charged battery, press the "CHARGE DISCHARGE" button. The
discharging starts and is indicated by the yellow "DISCHARGE" status indicator lamp (=
discharging).
The red "FAST" charging indicator lamp goes out during the discharging process.
When pressing the "DISCHARGE" button during the discharging mode again, it is switched
to charging mode. The status indicator lamp changes to red.
If the discharging process is not interrupted, the charger automatically switches to charging
mode when the rechargeable battery is empty.
Charging switch-off
The charger has a "delta peak" charging switch-off which automatically completes the
charging process when the charging end voltage is reached and switches to trickle charge
mode.
The "TRICKLE" status indicator lamp lights up in green (= battery full) and all other indica-
tor lamps go out.
Pull the mains plug out of the mains socket first and only then remove the rechargeable
battery from the charger.
Avoid any short-circuits when disconnecting.
A "slight" warming of the rechargeable battery/batteries during charg-
ing is normal.
Never cover the charger and the rechargeable battery to prevent possi-
ble damages (due to heat accumulation).
DISPOSAL
Used electronic devices are raw materials and must not be disposed of in the
domestic waste. When the device has reached the end of its service life,
please dispose of it in accordance with the current statutory requirements at
your local collecting points. It is forbidden to dispose of it in the domestic
waste!

DISPOSAL OF USED BATTERIES/RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES

You as end user are under legal obligation (Battery Regulation) to take back all used
batteries and rechargeable batteries; to dispose of them via domestic waste is not permit-
ted.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing harmful substances are marked
with the following symbols which point out that the disposal via the domestic
waste is prohibited.
The designations for the respective heavy metal are the following: Cd =
cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead. You can return used batteries/recharge-
able batteries free of charge to any collecting point in your local authority, to
our stores or to any other store where batteries/rechargeable batteries are
sold.
Thus, you comply with the legal obligations and make your contribution to environmental
protection.
