4. Configuration

a) Sound card
5.1-Analogue output
The analogue 5.1 loudspeaker set included with delivery can be connected through
the three outputs "SPK-Out, "Rear-Out" and "Centre/Bass".
Line input ("Line-In")
The line input makes it possible to connect external signal sources, for example a CD
player or cassette deck, whose audio signals can be digitised.
Microphone input ("MIC-In")
This input can be used to connect a microphone.
Joystick socket
You can connect an analogue PC joystick to the joystick socket.
Internal connections
You can connect the analogue output of a CD-ROM drive to the J3/J4 connections,
for example. Make careful note of the audio cable assignment. Unfortunately there
are numerous different designs. Note the printed label next to the two connections (R
= right audio signal, L = left audio signal, G = Ground/Earth.
You should only use one of the two connections! Since the two connec-
tions are linked to each other, the audio signals of two different devices
(for example a CD-ROM and CD-ROM burner) cannot be connected.
An additional drive (for example the analogue output of a CD burner) can be plugged
into the connection.

Live components may be exposed when covers are opened or compo-
nents are removed.
Capacitors in the device may still be charged, even if the device has been
disconnected from all voltage sources.
Repair work must always be carried out by qualified experts familiar with
the hazards involved and with the relevant regulations.
The use of a dry, lint-free cloth is recommended to clean the loudspeaker set.
For more resistant dirt, you can moisten the cloth slightly with lukewarm water.
Wait until the loudspeaker set is completely dry before connecting it with the PC,
with the satellite loudspeakers and with the mains power voltage!
9. Disposal
Once the product becomes unusable, dispose of it in accordance with the relevant
statutory regulations.

10. Hints and tips

• If you already have a joystick port in your PC, turn it off. There can only be one joy-
stick port in a PC!
All modern joystick ports support two joysticks, however. To connect two joysticks
to your PC, you will need a Y adapter.
The individual joysticks must not have any functions beyond "Up/Down",
"Left/Right" and two firing buttons.
For example, it a joystick has four firing buttons or an additional "Throttle" con-
troller, a Y cable cannot be used. The only way to use a second joystick in this
case is with a joystick switch (which switches back and forth between the joysticks
– it is not possible to use both joysticks simultaneously)!
• Check the settings in the loudspeaker control system carefully. This also applies to
the microphone input. Generally it is deactivated in the default setting of the loud-
speaker control system.
• The assignment of the "Centre/Bass" output of the sound card can be exchanged
with the two jumpers on the sound card. It is possible the setting will be incorrect
when the soundcard is delivered.
