Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen IBM-kompatiblen Computer vorgesehen und
dient dort z.B. zur Audio-Wiedergabe oder -Aufnahme von Analog-Audio-Signalen.

Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie
den Einbau von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden
Fachwerkstatt durchführen!
Durch unsachgemässen Einbau wird sowohl die Soundkarte als auch
Ihr Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den die Soundkarte eingebaut werden
soll und alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte
von der Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten
über den Netzschalter genügt nicht!
• Schrauben Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers auf und nehmen Sie den
Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig ab.
• Entfernen Sie ein Slotblech (oder ggf. Ihre alte Soundkarte) und stecken Sie die
Soundkarte in einen freien PCI-Steckplatz, schrauben Sie sie fest. Kontrollieren
Sie, ob die Soundkarte richtig im Steckplatz sitzt.
• Schrauben Sie den Computer wieder zu.
• Verbinden Sie nun z.B. Ihre PC-Lautsprecher mit den Ausgängen der Soundkarte
(F-Out: Front-Ausgang, R-Out: Rear-Ausgang, C/LFE-Out: Center-/Subwoofer-
Ausgang).
• Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor wieder mit der Netzspannung und
schalten Sie alle Geräte ein.
• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort wieder aus und kon-
trollieren Sie sämtliche Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des PCs ist der PC wieder von der Netzspannung zu
trennen, siehe oben!
Treiber-Installation
Legen Sie den mitgelieferten Datenträger in das entsprechende Laufwerk ein und
folgen Sie allen Anweisungen von Windows.
Zum Zeitpunkt der Drucklegung dieser Bedienungsanleitung war der Treiber für
Windows 98 im Verzeichnis "Driver/W95-98/DRV" zu finden.
Danach ist meist ein Neustart von Windows erforderlich.
Software-Installation
Auf der mitgelieferten CD finden Sie auch eine Version der DVD-Player-Software
"WinDVD", die den 5.1-Ausgang der Soundkarte unterstützt.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass "DirectX" von Microsoft für die Benutzung von "WinDVD"
installiert sein muss.
Da die Decodierung der Informationen auf der DVD per Software geschieht, ist ein
PC mit mindestens ca. 500MHz nötig, um ruckelfrei DVDs abspielen zu können.
Nach Installation der Software wird beim Abspielen von DVDs (ein passendes DVD-
Laufwerk vorausgesetzt) der 5.1-Sound decodiert und analog auf den Ausgängen
der Soundkarte ausgegeben.
Dort lässt sich z.B. ein Verstärker mit analogen 5.1-Eingängen oder ein entspre-

chendes PC-Lautsprecherset anschließen.

Anschlüsse und Konfiguration
Am "F-Out"-Anschluss kann auch ein herkömmliches normales Lautsprecherset
angeschlossen werden, wenn kein 5.1-Sound benötigt wird.
Die beiden CD-Audio-Eingänge sind parallel geschaltet. Der gemeinsame Anschluss
der Audioausgänge z.B. eines CD-ROMs und eines CD-Brenners ist deshalb nicht
möglich. Nutzen Sie in diesem Fall zusätzlich den AUX-Eingang.
Achten Sie auf die korrekte Belegung der Audiokabel!
Über die beiden Steckbrücken kann am Ausgang "C/LFE-Out" der Center- und
Subwoofer-Ausgang vertauscht werden.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Falls Sie in Ihrem PC schon einen Joystickport haben (z.B. Onboard-Joystickport
des Motherboards), so schalten Sie ihn ab. In einem PC darf es nur einen
Joystickport geben!
Auch der Betrieb von zwei Soundkarten ist normalerweise nicht möglich (z.B.
Onboard-Soundkarte und die hier gelieferte Soundkarte).
Jeder moderne Joystickport unterstützt zwei Joysticks; es ist für den Anschluss
von zwei Joysticks an Ihren PC ein sog. Y-Adapter nötig.
Die einzelnen Joysticks dürfen dabei aber nicht mehr Funktionen haben als
"Hoch/Runter", "Links/Rechts" und zwei Feuerknöpfe.
Hat Ihr Joystick z.B. vier Feuerknöpfe oder einen zusätzlichen "Throttle"-Regler,
der sich nicht abschalten lässt, so kann kein Y-Kabel verwendet werden, der
Betrieb eines zweiten Joysticks ist nur über einen sog. Joystick-Umschalter
möglich - der gleichzeitige Einsatz zweier Joysticks ist dabei aber nicht möglich!
• Kontrollieren Sie die Einstellungen in der Lautstärkeregelung. Dies gilt auch für
den Mikrofoneingang, meist ist er deaktiviert.
• An den Ausgängen R-Out (Rear-Out, "hinterer" Ausgang") und C/LFE-Out
(Center/Low-Frequency-Output, Center- und Subwoofer-Ausgang) liegen nor-
malerweise nur dann Signale an, wenn eine DVD mit 5.1-Audio wiedergegeben
wird.
Zur Wiedergabe von 5.1-Audio von DVDs ist eine entsprechende DVD-Player-
Software erforderlich (der Soundkarte liegt eine spezielle WinDVD-Version bei).

Proper Use
The product is designed to be built into an IBM-compatible computer and there
reproduces audio signals or records analogue audio signals.

Installation
If you do not have expert knowledge for the installation, you should
have the PCI card installed by QUALIFIED PERSONNEL or a correspon-
ding specialist dealer!
Improper installation will damage the sound card and your computer
and all connected devices.
Caution, Lethal Danger!
Switch off your computer into which you want to insert the sound
card and all connected devices and disconnect all devices from the
mains voltage, pull the mains cord! Switching off via the mains
switch does not suffice!
• Unscrew the housing of your computer and carefully remove the housing lid.
• Remove a slot sheet (or your old sound card) and insert the sound card into an
empty PCI-slot and screw it tight. Make sure that the sound card sits properly in
the slot.
• Close the housing and screw it tight.
• Now connect your PC speakers to the outputs of the sound card (F-Out: Front
Output, R-Out: Rear Output, C/LFE-Out: Center/Subwoofer Output).
• Reconnect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all
devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly, turn it off immediately and check all
settings and cable connections.
Before you open the PC a second time, you must disconnect it from the mains
voltage, see above!
Installing the Drivers
Insert the supplied data carrier in the corresponding drive and follow all instructions
given by Windows.
At the time of printing of these operating instructions the driver for Windows 98
could be found in the folder "Driver/W95-98/DRV".
Afterwards you must restart your computer.
Installing the Software
The supplied CD-ROM contains a version of the DVD player software "WinDVD"
which supports the 5.1-output of the sound card.
Please note that Microsoft "DirectX" must be installed to use "WinDVD".
Since the information on the DVD is decoded via software a PC must feature at least
500MHz to replay DVDs smoothly.
After software installation the 5.1-sound is decoded and output analogously via the
outputs of the sound card during DVD replay (provided a suitable DVD drive exists).
An amplifier with analogue 5.1-outputs can for example be connected there or a
corresponding PC speaker set.

Also an ordinary speaker set can be connected to the "F-Out" jack, if no 5.1-sound
is required.
The two CD audio inputs are switched in parallel. The common connection of the
audio outputs e.g., of a CD-ROM drive and of a CD-ROM burner is thus not possible.
In this case, use the additional AUX input.
Observe the correct assignment of the audio cables!
Use the two jumpers to change the center output and the subwoofer output at the
"C/LFE-Out" jack.
Tips & Information
• If you already have a joystick port (e.g., onboard joystick port of the motherbo-
ard), you must disable it. There may only be one joystick port in one PC!
Neither is it normally possible to use two sound cards (e.g., onboard sound card
and this sound card).
Each modern joystick port supports two joysticks. To connect two joysticks to
your PC, you require a so-called Y-adapter.
However the two joysticks must not have more functions than "Up/Down",
"Left/Right" and two fire buttons.
If your joystick has e.g., four fire buttons and an additional throttle control, which
cannot be disabled, a Y-cable cannot be used and the second joystick can only
be operated via a so-called joystick switch – two joysticks can, however, not be
run simultaneously!
• Check the volume settings. This applies also for the microphone input which is
in most cases disabled.
• Normally, the signals only apply at the R-Out jack (Rear-Out) and the C/LFE-Out
jack (Center/Low-Frequency Output, center and subwoofer output) if a DVD with
5.1-audio sound is replayed.
You need special software for DVD players to replay 5.1 sound (a special WinDVD
version is enclosed to the sound card).
