Cleaning of impeller, outlet pipe and water outlet
Debris and bacterial growth require cleaning from time to time as follows:
Water outlet:
The cover of the water outlet is clipped on and can easily be removed. Insert a wide
flat screwdriver sideways into the slot of the outlet and carefully lever the cover (1a).
Rinse away foreign particles and debris under running water.
Outlet pipe:
Remove the top part of the filter (1) vertically out of the lock-in position of the bottom
part of the filter (2). Remove the outlet pipe and clean it with an appropriate tube
brush.
Impeller and impeller casing:
Pull the holder (7) of the FilterPad with its frame (7a) forwards from the lock-in
position at the bottom part of the filter. Remove the pump (6) by sliding it forwards
out of its mounting bracket. The impeller casing is situated at the bottom of the
pump.
Remove the cover (6a) of the impeller casing by gently pulling vertically upwards.
Remove the internal lid (6b) of the impeller. Pull the impeller (6c) out of its casing. The
shaft of the impeller is firmly installed and cannot be removed. NOTE: the impeller
is held in the casing by magnetic force. Take appropriate care when removing the
impeller, particularly to avoid any injury to fingers.
Clean the impeller casing, the impeller and the lid with an appropriate cleaning brush
and rinse everything afterwards with clean water. Limescale can be easily
removed by soaking in JBL Clean A (available at your specialist pet shop).
Place the impeller back in the casing. Put the internal lid and the cover of the impeller
casing back on. Return the pump into its bracket and press the outlet pipe onto the
nozzle.
 Re-starting the filter
Reassemble the filter as described above in reversed order. Pay attention to the
proper fit of the detents and the suction cup. Place the FilterPad(s) or the modules
(if used) back in the filter. Return the filter to its original place in the aquarium as
described below (2).
Plug the filter to the power supply.
