Safety instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the
safety information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and
information on proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability
for any resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such cases
will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
a) General
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may
become dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong
jolts, high humidity, moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of
operation and protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no
longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a
low height can damage the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices
which are connected to the product.
• For installations in industrial facilities, follow the accident prevention
regulations for electrical systems and equipment of the government
safety organization or the corresponding authority for your country.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection
of the device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively
by an expert or at a qualified shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating
instructions, contact our technical support service or other technical
personnel.
b) Installation
• Installation of the product must be carried out by a qualified
professional (i.e. an electrician) who is familiar with all applicable
regulations (i.e. VDE regulations)!
By handling mains voltage improperly, you endanger not only
yourself but also others!
If you do not have the relevant expert knowledge, do not install the
product yourself, but have it done by a professional.
• The thermostat must only be installed and operated inside a closed
housing. Only the axis of the rotary control may protrude from the
housing. The provided rotary control (or any other suitable rotary control)
must be installed on the axis.
• It is imperative to observe all required safety distances between live
components (terminals of the thermostat or sockets, etc.) and accessible
components of the housing (the device, into which to install the
thermostat).
• The device, into which to install the thermostat, must be disconnected
from the mains and all other cables/cords. Disconnect the plug from the
mains outlet.
If the device does not feature a mains plug, but is instead connected
to the mains via fixed installation, deactivate the corresponding circuit
breaker and also the ground fault circuit interrupter in order to disconnect
all poles of the power supply cord.
Secure the circuit breaker and the ground fault circuit interrupter against
unauthorized activation, e.g. by using a warning sign.
Check for zero potential using a suitable meter (e.g. multimeter).
• Capacitors in the device, into which to install the thermostat, can remain
charged for a long time after deactivation or disconnection from the
mains.
This poses a risk of fatal injury due to electric shock!
• Do not use the thermostat in rooms or under adverse ambient conditions,
where inflammable gases, vapors or dust are or could be present. There
is a risk of explosion!
• The connection power of the thermostat must not be exceeded.
• When routing the capillary tube and installing the sensor, make sure
neither the capillary tube nor the sensor are bent, jammed or damaged
in any other way.
Both the capillary tube and the sensor can and must not be shortened
or trimmed.
Do not screw any bolts or similar through the sensor tip.
That will render the thermostat useless!
