3. INSTALLATION

3.1. Location, assembly, ventilation

The PAM amplifiers PAM 360E/560E/960E/1360E are presented in rack modules of 19"
and 2 units in height.
It is most important that, as the amplifier generates heat itself, it must therefore not be
totally enclosed or exposed to extreme temperatures, i.e. fresh air is to pass through the forced
ventilation tunnel. This system takes the air from the rear directing it straight to the filter capacitors
and transformer, forcing it to exit through the cooling tunnel of the MOSFET, through the frontal
part of the amplifier, avoiding in the case of rack assembly an excessive heat build up in its interior
and therefore incrementing the duration of the electrolytic capacitors. It is also advisable not to
place the power amplifier under other equipment, instead it should be placed on top.
All the PAM amplifiers are supplied with plastic rings so as to enable mounting the amplifier
onto a rack without damaging the control panel.

3.2. Mains connection

The PAM amplifiers are fed with alternate currents, depending on the country, of 110 -120,
220-240V 50/60Hz.(see characteristics in the back of the unit) consuming:

The mains cables must not be near the shielded cables carrying the audio signal,
could cause humming. To protect the amplifier from eventual over charges of consumption, there
are five time lag fuses incorporated (see chart), two situated in each power module and the fifth in
the primary transformer supply. Should a fuse blow, it must be replaced immediately by one of
identical characteristics. Should it blow again please consult our Technical Service Department.
NEVER REPLACE THE FUSE WITH ANOTHER ONE WITH A HIGHER VALUE.

3.3. Signal input connections

The signal input connectors are of XLR-3 type (5, 7), electronically balanced. The pin
assignment is as follows:
HOT or direct signal
COLD or inverted signal
GROUND
For unbalanced connection short-circuit pin 3 to pin 1.
