Replacement/Additional Sensor W186-8
Item no. 67 25 66
1.
Intended use
This product is designed for the measurement of ambient temperature and ambient atmospheric humidity. This data is
displayed on the product's screen and can be transmitted to a radio weather station via 868 MHz band radio transmission.
The manufacturer does not accept any responsibility for incorrect displays, measurements or the consequences which
might arise from this. The device is powered by two AAA batteries (not included). The outdoor sensor is suitable to be
used in a sheltered outdoor area (for example under a roof projection).
For safety and approval purposes (CE), you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product for
purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can cause hazards
such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this product
available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.

Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information. If you do
not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this manual, we assume
no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the
warranty/guarantee.
Persons / Product
Do not use this product in hospitals or medical institutions. Although the outdoor sensor emits only relatively weak
radio signals, these may lead to malfunction oflife-supporting systems. The same may be the case in other areas.
Install the outdoor sensor vertically on the wall. Do not operate the outdoor sensor on its side.
Do not operate the external sensor where there is standing water, do not use the outdoor sensor in or under water
- it will be destroyed.
The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous playing material for
children.
Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity, moisture, flammable
gases, vapours and solvents.
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use.
Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
-
is visibly damaged,
-
is no longer working properly,
-
has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
-
has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the product.
Batteries
Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the batteries.
Batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time to avoid damage through
leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore use suitable
protective gloves to handle corrupted batteries.
Batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave the battery lying around, as there is risk, that children
or pets swallow it.
All the batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new batteries in the device can lead to battery
leakage and device damage.
Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire. Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
There is a risk of explosion!
Miscellaneous
Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a qualified shop.
If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical support
service or other technical personnel.

Operation
1.
Open the battery compartment on the rear by unscrewing two screws of the battery compartment lid beforehand.
The battery compartment lid is inserted at the foot in the housing's underside, fold it upwards (at the
screw holes) a bit; now it can be removed carefully.
2.
Prior to inserting the batteries, the transmission channel is to be set via the sliding switch (6) if you operate more
than one outdoor sensor.
3.
Also in the event of reception failures (e.g. if a weather station of the same or similar design is used in close
proximity) you should try to select a different channel.

5.

6.
Switch for channel selection for the radio transmission
(channel 1, 2 or 3 can be selected)
7.
Battery compartment for 2 batteries of type AAA/micro
In order for the outdoor sensor to recognise the change to another channel, you have to remove the
batteries for a few seconds and then reinsert them afterwards. Now check if the correct channel number
is shown at the top left in the display of the outdoor sensor.
The menu of the weather station enables you to preset whether only the data of one individual outdoor
Version 11/11
sensor shall be displayed (e.g. only the temperature/air humidity measuring values of a single outdoor
sensor, e.g. channel 3) or if the switch shall take place automatically (data of the 2 or 3 outdoor sensors
will be shown one after another).
If you use more than one outdoor sensor, each one of them must be set to a different channel!
4.
Insert two batteries of type AAA/micro in the battery compartment (7) observing the correct polarity. In the battery
compartment you will find the corresponding markings for the polarity. If the batteries are inserted wrongly, the
outdoor sensor does not work.
5.
By pressing the "°C/°F" (5) button the temperature display can be switched between "°C" (degree Celsius) and "°F"
(degree Fahrenheit).
6.
The "TX" button can be used to send a data package of measured values to the weather station (e.g. when replacing
the batteries or for test purposes). Normally, this is not required and thus, you can close the battery compartment
lid; see below.
7.
Insert the battery compartment lid with the 3 plastic lugs in the housing and then close it. Now tighten it with the two
screws that you previously removed.
8.
The installation site of the outdoor sensor should be chosen so that it is protected from precipitation (e.g. under a
roof projection), otherwise the sensor won't measure the air temperature. The sensor must not be exposed to direct
insolation since this also leads to faulty measurements due to the sun exposure.
9.
By means of the opening for wall mounting (3) the outdoor sensor can be installed on the wall e.g. with a screw,
hook or nail.
10.
If you wish to place the outdoor sensor on an even surface (e.g. window board), make sure it cannot topple over or
fall down. This will damage the outdoor sensor!
6.
Disposal
Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
Remove any inserted (rechargeable) batteries and dispose of them separately from the product.
(Rechargeable) batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/rechargeable batteries.
Disposing of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Contaminated (rechargeable) batteries are labelled with this symbol to indicate that disposal in the domestic
waste is forbidden. The designations for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb =
Lead (name on (rechargeable) batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your municipality, our stores or
wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
