Radio desk clock with temperature
Item no. 67 24 52
Use in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
The purpose of the radio wall clock is to decode the DCF radio signal of the caesium atomic clock in Braun-
schweig (Germany), to display the time, date and the external temperature as well as to provide an alarm
function.
The device may only be used indoors. Contact with moisture, for example in bathrooms and other such
places, must be avoided.
The radio table clock is designed exclusively for use with batteries. Do not use any other power supply. The
required battery type is specifi ed in the "Technical data" section.
Any use other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product. In addition, it can lead to
dangers such as short-circuit, fi re and electrical shock.
This product complies with the applicable National and European regulations.

Inserting/Replacing the Batteries
Batteries should be kept out of the reach of children.
Ensure the polarity is correct, when inserting the batteries.
Remove the batteries, if you are not going to use the device for a while, to prevent dam-
age from leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries can cause acid
burns upon contact with skin. Thus, you should wear protective gloves when handling
damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries.
Keep the batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying around, as
they may be swallowed by children or pets.
The batteries must not be short-circuited or thrown into a fi re. Do not attempt to recharge
the batteries. This could lead to a risk of explosion.
• Open the cover of the battery compartment (7) on the back of the device.
• Insert two new 1.5V micro-batteries (AAA) in the battery compartment, paying attention to the polarity
markings. The correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
• Close the battery compartment (7) again.
• The clock now starts searching for the DCF signal and tries to tune in.
• If the display contrast fades, the batteries are low and have to be replaced as described above.
• To ensure a long battery life, only use alkaline types.
The use of rechargeable batteries leads to a shorter operating time, because of the lower volt-
age and capacity.
DCF Reception
Directly after the battery is inserted, the clock makes a fi rst attempt to receive the DCF signal. After a suc-
cessful DCF reception the clock is automatically set to the current time.
The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 3-5 minutes. Do not move the
radio table clock during that time. Do not use any buttons!
Bad reception can be caused, for example, by metalized insulated glass, reinforced concrete
buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic devices, or installation in cellars.
If after 10 minutes the clock has not set the current time, change the location of the radio-clock
and press the WAVE ° C / ° F (5) button for 3 seconds.
This will start a new reception attempt.
The reception attempt for the daily automatic synchronisation with
the DCF time is done several times a day. One successful recep-
tion per day is suffi cient to keep the deviation to less than 1 second.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF transmitter in
Mainfl ingen (near Frankfurt). Its range is up to 1500 km and, under
ideal reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal displays the precise time (theo-
retical deviation of 1 second in a million years!) and the date.
This means there is no need for manual setting of summer and winter
time.
Installation/Setup
• Install the clock on a horizontal and stable surface.
DCF Time Adjustment
• After inserting the batteries the clock searches automatically for the DCF signal. This is indicated by a
fl ashing icon on the DCF display.
• Normally, the synchronisation process is completed within a few minutes.
• As soon as the DCF signal is decoded the DCF tower icon will appear continuously and the current time
and date are displayed.
• In normal operation, the clock makes a reception attempt every hour. If no signal is received, the DCF
tower icon disappears.
• To start a manual receive operation, press the button WAVE ° C / ° F (5) for 3 seconds.
If the DCF reception is distorted please try to fi nd another place for installation and / or leave the
clock overnight near a window.
At night the reception is better, so the clock is normally synchronised the next morning.
The "S" in the display is a symbol indicates summer time.
Setting the Time Manually
If the DCF signal cannot be received, the time must be set manually.
If no key is pressed for more than 30 seconds while setting, the clock exits setting mode and
returns to the previous screen.
• During the normal time mode, Press and hold MODE (4) until the hour display fl ashes.
• Set the hours with the + (2) and - (3) buttons.
• Press the MODE button (4) again. The minute display blinks.
• Set the minutes by pressing the + (2) and - (3) buttons.
• Now set the year, month and date as described above.
• Press the MODE button (4) again to save the setting.
