Switching the reception channel
If more than one radio sensor is registered on the base station, briefl y press the "CHANNEL/SEARCH" button several
times to switch between the radio sensors.
If, in addition, the symbol "
" appears above the "CH" display, the base station switches the display automatically.
Here, the soil moisture of each radio sensor will be shown for a few seconds and then the device switches to the
next radio sensor. To exit the automatic switching, just press the "CHANNEL/SEARCH" button repeatedly until the
desired radio sensor is displayed again.
Placing the radio sensor in the plant pot, display of the soil moisture
Put the sensing head of the radio sensor in the plant pot (should the sensing head be protected with a protection
cap, remove it fi rst!). The sensing heads should be located approx. in the middle of the pot - and there at the height
of the plant roots.
Do not apply force when inserting the sensing head into the plant pot otherwise this will not only damage
the sensing head but also the roots of the plant.
The soil moisture is indicated as bar graph in the display of the radio sensor or on the top of the basis station's display.
4 bar:
Moist
3 bar:
Moderately moist
2 bar:
Moderately dry
1 bar:
dry
Please note that the display is based on the measurement of the electric conductivity of the soil. If the sensing head
e. g. is located directly in water, at most 2 or 3 bars will be displayed. Hence, for a correct measurement the sensing
head must be inside the soil!
Switching between the irrigation display and the soil moisture
Briefl y press the "WATERING/SET" button on the base station to switch between the display of the soil moisture (in
the display indicated as "SOIL MOISTURE") and the irrigation display (in the display indicated as "WATERING AT...").
The bottom fi eld of the display shows the related bar graphs of all 5 radio sensors (one radio sensor included in the
package, other sensors available as accessories).
Setting the irrigation display
For each radio sensor/channel you can adjust from which point on the graph in the middle of the display will indicate
that the related plant must be watered. This setting will also be used if you turn on the irrigation alarm.
• First select the required radio sensor whose irrigation display you want to set by briefl y pressing the "CHANNEL/
SEARCH" button several times (observe channel display at the top right of the display, e.g. "CH 1").
• Keep the "WATERING/SET" button pressed until the bar graph blinks at the bottom of the display. Release the
button again.
• By using the " " or " " keys you can set the bar display which indicates when the plant shall be watered. Exit the
setting by briefl y pressing the "WATERING/SET" button (or simply wait for a few seconds).
Example:
Set the bar display to 2 bars.
If the soil moisture of the plant pot, where you inserted the radio sensor, drops from 3 to 2 bars, a small watering
can symbol will blink above the bar display. In addition, a large graph of a plant with hanging fl ower and a watering
can will be shown in the middle of the display. If the irrigation alarm is switched on (see next chapter), an acoustic
signal will be emited.
Switching the irrigation alarm on/off
Briefl y press the "WATERING AL. ON/OFF" button on the base station to turn the irrigation alarm on or off.
If the irrigation alarm is turned on, the symbol " " is indicated below the channel display.
With the irrigation alarm switched on, the base station emits an audio signal if the soil moisture drops too sharply
(depending on the setting of the irrigation display, see above).
The acoustic signal will be muted automatically between 9 pm and 9 am.
Switching the alarm signal on the radio sensor on or off
An alarm signal can be switched on or off via the "AL ON/OFF" button on the rear.
With the alarm signal turned on, the radio sensor emits a beep if the soil moisture drops too sharply (only one bar
in the display).
To turn the alarm signal on or off, keep the "AL ON/OFF" button pressed for approx. 5 seconds.
If the alarm signal has been turned on, the LED in the radio sensor slowly fl ashes twice and in addition, 2 beeps
are emitted.
If the alarm signal has been turned off, the LED in the radio sensor quickly blinks twice.
Transmission range
The transmission range of the radio signals between the radio sensor and the base station is up to 10 m.
The range can be signifi cantly reduced by proximity to cables, pipes, metal pieces, electronic devices, and similar.
Thick walls, steel construction, laminated insulation glass windows, etc., also reduce the range very signifi cantly.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product is maintenance-free for you; never dismantle it (except for inserting/replacing the batteries or recharge-
able batteries as described in these operating instructions).
Clean the product with a soft, clean, dry cloth.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage the surface of the casing or
impair the operation.
The sensing head of the radio sensor can be cleaned under running, clean water. Never dip the radio sensor in or
under water for cleaning; this may destroy it!
Disposal
a) In general
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.
Remove any inserted battery and dispose of it separately from the product.
b) Disposal of used batteries/rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/rechargeable batteries;
disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Contaminated batteries / rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to indicate that dispos-
al in the domestic waste is forbidden. The symbols for the relevant heavy metals are: Cd = Cadmium,
Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead.
You can dispose of your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at your community's col-
lection point or any place where batteries/rechargeable batteries are sold!
You thus fulfi l the legal requirements and make your contribution to protecting the environment!
