General information on batteries/rechargeable batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Check that the polarity is correct, when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and
minus/-).
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If swal-
lowed consult a doctor immediately, it can be fatal!
• Make sure that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited, dismantled or thrown into a fi re. There is a
risk of fi re and explosion!
• Old or fl at batteries can leak liquid chemicals that may damage the device. Therefore, if you are not using the
device for a longer period of time (e.g. in case of storage) remove the inserted batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin can cause acid burns; therefore, use
suitable protective gloves.
• Only use batteries/rechargeable batteries of the correct size and the recommended type.
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Use either 2 batteries or 2 rechargeable batteries; never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries. Al-
ways use batteries/rechargeable batteries of the same type and from the same manufacturer. Do not mix batteries/
rechargeable batteries with different charges (fl at and half-discharged batteries/rechargeable batteries).
Starting Up, Inserting Batteries, Replacing Batteries
a) Radio sensor
• Open the battery compartment on the rear of the radio sensor by slightly rotating the battery compartment lid
counter-clockwise (in arrow direction "OPEN") using e.g. a coin. Afterwards, the battery compartment lid can be
removed.
• Prior to inserting the battery in the radio sensor, the channel selection switch ("CHANNEL") must be set to a free
channel. Adjust the channel selection switch e. g. with a small screw driver.
If you only have one radio sensor (one is included in the package, more sensors can be ordered sepa-
rately) select the position "1" (channel 1).
Each radio sensor must be adjusted to one individual channel (never a assign a channel twice!).
• Insert a battery of type "CR2032" into the radio sensor observing the correct polarity. The plus pole (+) points
outward, towards you. After that, the radio sensor emits a brief audio signal.
• Replace the battery compartment lid in the correct way and lock it by slightly turning it to the right, in clockwise
direction. The display now shows the indication for the soil moisture (bar graph).
• Each time the measured value for the soil moisture is transmitted, the LED on the top of the radio sensor lights up
briefl y.

b) Base station
• Open the battery compartment on the rear of the base station and insert two batteries of type AAA/Mignon with the
correct polarity. Close the battery compartment.
• After inserting the batteries in the base station, all display segments are shown briefl y and the base station emits
a brief acoustic signal.
• Afterwards, the base station starts the search for the available radio sensors. A bar fl ashes on the top right of the
display, next to the display "CH". Once a radio sensor was found, its channel number appears in the display.
The search for the radio sensors may take several minutes. During this time, do not move the base station and the
radio sensor(s) or press any button.
• If the bar next to the display "CH" or the channel number indicated there does not blink any longer, the search for
the radio sensors is completed. Now you can carry out further settings (e.g. setting the time). Please observe the
following chapters of these operating instructions.
• The batteries of the base station must be replaced if the display contrast decreases or the battery indication "
" appears on the bottom right of the display. All settings are lost when replacing the batteries.
• Place the base station on a fl at, level surface. Protect valuable furniture surfaces by using a suitable mat to prevent
scratches. Due to the opening on the rear of the base station, it is possible to hang up the base station e.g. on a
hook, nail or screw (prior to this, remove the base stand).

on the next day at the set time.
Starting the manual search for radio sensors
A manual search for the available radio sensors can be started on the base station e.g. after a battery replacement
or if you want to register another radio sensor later.
• Start the sensor search by pressing and holding the "CHANNEL/SEARCH" button for approx. 3 seconds until the
channel display fl ashes on the top right.
• The search for the sensor takes several minutes. During this time, do not move the base station and the radio
sensors or press any buttons.

Because of the lower voltage provided by rechargeable batteries (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery
= 1.2 V) and their lower capacity, the battery life is shorter. Therefore, high-quality alkaline batteries
should be inserted in the base station for a long and safe operation of the product.
If you wish to use rechargeable batteries, we recommend you to use NiMH rechargeable batteries with
low self-discharge.
The base station can receive and display measured values from max. 5 radio sensors. One radio sensor
is included in the package; others are available as accessories.
Each radio sensor must be set to a different transmission channel.
Should the base station not indicate any channel number but continue to only display a bar next to the
"CH" display, check if the battery of the radio sensor is inserted correctly or the battery is empty.
Keep a mininum distance of 20-30 cm between the base station and the radio sensor while searching
for the sensor.
Move neither the base station nor the radio sensor during the sensor search. Do not press any buttons.
Do not place the devices close to other electronic devices, cables or sockets.
For test purposes, remove the batteries from the base station and radio sensor and reinsert them
afterwards (reinsert into the radio sensor fi rst, then into the base station).
On using the 12h mode, the text "PM" appears in the display left to the time during the second half of
the day.
" appears to the right of the alarm time display.
