Getting started

Operating the base station and the outdoor sensor with rechargeable batteries is possible.
However, the operating time and the display contrast are reduced by the lower voltage (battery
= 1.5V, rechargeable battery = 1.2V). Since rechargeable batteries are very sensitive to cold,
the service life of the outdoor sensor decreases further during the winter.
We recommend therefore to operate both, the base station and the outdoor sensor with high-
quality alkaline batteries to ensure long and reliable operation.
a) Inserting batteries into the outdoor sensor
• Open the battery compartment on the back of the outdoor sensor, by unscrewing the two fastening screws
on the battery compartment cover (21) and then removing the cover.
• Set the transmission channel (1, 2 or 3) via the sliding switch (19). If you are using only the single outdoor
sensor enclosed, select the channel 1.
If you have more than one outdoor sensor (up to 3 can be registered on the base station), each outdoor
sensor must be set to a different channel.
• Insert two AAA/Micro batteries, with correct polarity (observe positive/+ and negative/-), into the battery
compartment (20).
• Briefly press the "RESET" button (18).
• After starting up the base station (see below), you can initiate the transmission of the measured values
manually using the "TX" button (16) (press the button briefly). This will speed up the registration on the
base station.
• After successful start-up of the base station and the detection of the outdoor sensor, replace the battery
compartment cover (21) and fasten it with the screws that you removed in the first step.
With each transmission step of the outdoor sensor, the red LED (22) on the front side of the
outdoor sensor flashes briefly.
b) Inserting batteries into the base station
• Open the battery compartment on the back of the base station by sliding the battery compartment cover
(7) off upwards.
• Insert two batteries of type AAA/Micro into the base station, paying attention to the correct polarity (ob-
serve +/Plus and -/Minus). Close the battery compartment again.
• Once the batteries are inserted, the base station briefly shows all display
segments and a beep is audible. If the display shows meaningless char-
acters only, press the "RESET" button located between the two battery
holders (see figure on the right), using e.g. a toothpick.
Alternatively, you may also remove the batteries for a few seconds and
then insert them again.
• The base station starts searching for the radio signal of the available outdoor sensors, the reception icon
(2) flashes.
As described above under point a), you can speed up the registration process by briefly pressing the "TX"
button (16) in the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor (this will manually trigger the transmission of
the measured values).
Wait until the reception icon stops flashing (approx. 3 minutes). Do not press any button during this time,
and do not move the device.
• Afterwards, the base station is ready for use and you can set the time, the date and so on.
If the outdoors sensor is not recognised, press the "RESET" button in the battery compartment
of both the outdoor sensor and the base station (or remove the batteries for a few seconds and
then insert them again).
You may also perform a manual search for the outdoor sensor on the base station, see section
"Starting the search for the outdoor sensors manually".
c) Mounting/set-up
Prior to permanently mounting the outdoor sensor, you should make sure the base station re-
ceives the radio signal of the outdoor sensor correctly.
• The outdoor sensor can be mounted on the wall through its rear opening (17) using a nail, screw or hook.
The outdoor sensor is suitable for the use in protected outdoor areas. It should be placed so that it is not
exposed to direct sunlight, since this will result in faulty readings. Precipitation falling on the outdoor sen-
sor will also lead to false readings, since this cools the housing. Never dip the outdoor sensor in or under
water; this will destroy it!
Therefore, we recommend you choose the installation place carefully, so the outdoor sensor measures the
correct temperature.
• Set up the base station on an even and stable surface by means of the base (8). Protect valuable furniture
surfaces by using a suitable mat to prevent scratch marks.
For the wall mounting the base station can be attached to the wall through the opening (6) using a nail,
screw or a hook. Prior to that, carefully remove the base (8) by pulling it out backwards. The base is only
inserted into the base station.
For the operation of the device choose a place that is not directly exposed to the sun and not located close
to a radiator. This will lead to a false temperature or air humidity indication.

Operation

a) Starting the search for the outdoor sensors manually
• Keep the button "CHANNEL" (4) on the base station impressed for about 3 seconds until the reception icon
(15) is flashing.
• The base station now starts to search for available outdoor sensors (one sensor is included in the pack-
age, up to two more can be ordered separately as accessories). This search takes about 3 minutes.
Afterwards, the reception icon stops flashing. Do not press any button on the base station during this time,
and do not move the device.
• In order for the base station to find the outdoor sensor faster, you can briefly press the "TX" button (16) in
the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor (this will manually trigger the transmission of the measured
values).
If more than one outdoor sensor is used, each sensor has to be set to a different transmission
channel. To this end, use the sliding switch (19) in the battery compartment of the outdoor sen-
sor.
If the device cannot find the outdoor sensor (only dashes in the display area for the outdoor
sensor), decrease the distance between the outdoor sensor and base station, choose a different
mounting/installation place. Observe the chapter "Range".
b) Setting the 12h/24h mode, time zone, time/date and language of the weekday display
• To start the setting mode, press and hold down the "MODE" button (1) for approx. 3 seconds until an
acoustic signal is emitted and the hours of the time start to flash.
If you do not press any key for about 30 seconds, the base station saves all settings and exits
the settings mode automatically.
• Set the hours using the "UP/°C/°F" (2) or "DOWN" (3) buttons. For a quick adjustment, hold the corre-
sponding button for a longer period of time.
• By pressing the "MODE" button (1) briefly, you can switch successively between the settings of:
- Minutes
- 12h/24h mode (when set to the 12h mode, "PM" will appear next to the time during the second half of
the day)
- Year
- Order of display of month/date (display "M/D" = month/date or "D/M" = date/month)
- Month
- Date
- Display language for indication of the weekday ("EN" = English, "GE" = German, "FR" = French, "IT" =
Italian, "NE" = Dutch, "DA" = Danish).
If you briefly press the "MODE" button (1) again after setting the display language, the device exits the
setting mode (or wait for 30 seconds without pressing any key).
