Function of the motion detector
The PIR sensor integrated in the motion detector responds to temperature changes
within the detection range, e.g. if a person whose temperature is different from the
background enters the detection range.
The detection range of the PIR sensor can be limited with the provided plastic cap,
which is easily placed on the motion detector (if necessary, individual segments of the
plastic cap can also be removed).
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• The motion detector's mounting height
• Temperature difference between the moving object and the background (ambient)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the motion detector
• Direction and speed of the movement
• Ambient temperature
After switching on the mains voltage for the controller, it takes about 30 seconds until
the PIR sensor in the motion detector has adjusted to the background temperature
and is able to recognise changes in temperature within the detection range, and a
switching procedure is triggered.
Preparations for connection and installation
• The device must be voltage-free during installation and connection.
Turn the power off and ensure that none of the poles is live by removing the electric
circuit's fuse or switching off at the circuit breaker. Secure it against unauthorised
reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign. In addition, switch off the associated ground
fault circuit interrupter (breaker).
• Check that the mains cable is free of current e.g. with an appropriate tester.
• Both the motion detector and the controller are intended solely for installation in a
suspended room ceiling (e.g. in a ceiling panel).
• The product must be installed out of the reach of children.

Installation and Connection

Observe the chapter "Safety instructions" and the chapter "Prepara-
tions for connection and installation".
• First switch off the mains voltage to all poles.
• Remove the housing cover of the controller by removing the two screws. Carefully lift
off the cover from the bottom part (on the side opposite the screws, the housing is
clipped in with two retaining collars).
• Connect the mains cable and the cable to the load with the spring clips in the con-
troller. Observe the lettering on the clips.

Figure (A) shows the connection without external buttons.
In Figure (B), you can see the switching with one or more external buttons. The con-
nected load can be manually activated by the button(s). If multiple buttons are con-
nected, these are to be switched parallel (only buttons may be used, no switches!).
The switched-on period then corresponds to the time set on the "master" motion
detector.
The controller thus offers a feature that is similar to a conventional staircase lighting
timer.

Important!
If one or more buttons are connected to the controller, the "PULSE" mode
(setting position "PULSE" on the "master" motion detector) must not be used.
The "PULSE" mode of the "master" motion detector serves as a button
simulation when the controller is connected to a staircase lighting timer.
If additional buttons are installed as well as the motion detectors, these are to
be connected as usual to the staircase lighting timer and not to the controller.
• Close the housing on the controller again and screw in the 2 screws removed at the
beginning.
• Attach the controller with the two screw eyes on the housing; maintain suffi cient
distance from lights, halogen transformers, etc.
• The "master" motion detector (2) contained in the package is connected to one of
the two connectors of the connection cable on the controller (1).
If additional "slave" motion detectors (4 or 6) are connected (not included, can be
ordered as accessories), an additional connection cable (3 or 5, included with the
"slave" motion detector) is to be connected for each as shown in the fi gure above.
A total of 6 motion detectors can be connected to the controller (1 "master" and 5
"slave" motion detectors).
This is ideal if multiple motion detectors need to be mounted in a stairwell or in a
long corridor.
• For mounting the motion detector(s), a suitably large ceiling cut-out is needed for
each (see chapter "Technical Data").
The material thickness, e.g. of a suspended ceiling, may be somewhere between 5
and 25 mm.
• Step 1: Fold the two metal brackets vertically
upward as shown in the fi gure to the right.
Step 2: Then place the motion detector in
the prepared mounting hole.
Step 3: Pull the metal brackets downward
with the integrated springs and secure the
motion detector.
• After the mains voltage is fi rst switched on for the controller, the connected load is
switched on for about 30 seconds. In this time, the PIR sensor in the motion detec-
tor adjusts itself to the existing temperatures in the monitoring area.
Then the load is switched off and the motion detector is ready for use.
If the PIR sensor recognises temperature changes in the monitoring area, the load
connected to the controller is activated.
To set the switched-on period and adjust the brightness and sensitivity, see the next
chapter.
Settings on the "Master" Motion Detector
On the "master" motion detector, after opening the housing (see printed "open"),
three dials are visible.

Setting the switched-on period for connection L
PULSE
30
Using this control, you can set the switched-on duration time for the connection L .
Turning the control knob counter-clockwise shortens the on-time, turning it clockwise
lengthens it. Settings of 1 second (position "PULSE"), 30 seconds, or 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 or
30 minutes are possible.
If a new temperature change in the reception area is detected by the PIR de-
tector during the on-time, the on-time duration starts once again; the load
stays switched on.
In the position "PULSE", the output L is activated for 1 second; a renewed motion
detection is possible only after the expiry of a pause time of 9 seconds. This function
can be used, for example, for switching on a staircase lighting timer.
Important!
In the position "PULSE", the installation of buttons on the controller is not
possible.
