Hanging Scale HS-100

Intended use
The hanging scale serves for exact weighing of items with a total mass of up to 100 kg. The
scale can be attached with a snap hook to a firm fixture, which is designed for the total mass.
The item to be weighed is hung up on the S-shaped hook.
The scale is only designed for short, direct weighing. Dynamic weighing (e.g. pouring of
material) is not allowed and causes faulty measurements.
The hanging scale is operated with batteries. Power is supplied via two Lithium coin cells, which
are included in the delivery.
Do not operate the scale in explosive areas. Do not use the scale for humans or animals, for
medical purposes, or in commercial merchandise trade for price fixing. The scale must not get
damp or wet. It must not be dipped into fluids.
Any other use than described above is not permitted, it could cause damage to the product and
personal injury. No part of the product must be changed or converted!
The safety instructions are to be observed without fail!
Safety instructions
Please read all of the operating instructions before using the product for the first
time; they contain important information about correct operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume liability for consequential damage!
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty will
be void in such cases.
This device left the manufacture's factory in a safe and perfect condition.
We kindly request that the user observe the safety instructions and warnings contained in these
operating instructions to preserve this condition and to ensure safe operation. Please pay
attention to the following symbols:
A triangle containing an exclamation mark indicates important information in these
operating instructions which is to be observed without fail.
This product has been CE tested and complies with the required European guidelines.
The „hand" symbol is used to indicate where specific hints and information on hand-
ling are given.
Unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible for reasons of safety
and approval (CE).
Avoid strong mechanical strains such as impacts, vibrations or falling.
Avoid strong electromagnetic fields (e.g. large engines, etc.), dust, draught or thermal
fluctuation of the environment. This may lead to deviation of the measurement results and faulty
measurements.
Make sure that no persons or items are present under the item to be weighed. Falling down may
cause severe injuries.
Keep the device out of the reach of children. It is not a toy.
Do not leave packaging materials unattended. They could become a dangerous plaything for
children.
On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the industrial
workers' society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed.
If a safe operation can no longer be assumed, the device has to be put out of operation and
secured against unintended operation. A safe operation can no longer be assumed, if:
• the device shows visible signs of damage,
• the device no longer functions and
• if the device was stored under adverse conditions for a long period of time or
• after heavy loading during transport.
You should also heed the safety instructions in each chapter of these instructions.
Never switch the device on immediately after it has been taken from a cold into a warm
environment. Condensation that forms might destroy your device. Allow the device to reach
room temperature before switching it on.

Start-up
The maximum weighing range of 100 kg must not be exceeded. Avoid thermal
fluctuation during measuring; this may lead to faulty measurements.
Inserting/replacing the batteries
The hanging scale is operated with batteries. Upon start-up or if the symbol appears indicating
that battery replacement is necessary
To insert and replace the battery, proceed as follows:
Remove the lid of the battery case on the rear side. Unlock the lid with the plastic clip and lift it.
To replace used batteries, press the plastic clip outwards until the
coin cell is unlocked. Pull the batteries out of the compartment.
Insert two new Lithium coin cells of the type CR2032 in the com-
partment minding the correct polarity. The positive pole of both
coin cells directs outwards. Slide the coin cells diagonally under
the metal clip and press them carefully into the fixture until the
plastic clip locks the battery. Observe the polarity markings in the
battery compartment.
Close the battery compartment carefully.
Do not mix old and new batteries. Always replace all the batteries at the same time,
otherwise the batteries will discharge each other. Always use batteries of the same
type and brand.
Do not leave flat batteries in the device. Even batteries protected against leaking
can corrode and thus release chemicals that could be detrimental to your health
or damage the device.
Remove the batteries if the device is not used for long periods of time to prevent
leaking.
Leaking or damaged batteries may cause alkali burns if they come in contact
with the skin. Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
Do not leave batteries lying around carelessly. They might be swallowed by chil-
dren or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
Make sure that the batteries are not short-circuited. Do not throw batteries into
a fire.
Batteries (non-rechargeable) must not be recharged. There is danger of
explosion.
