Safety instructions

There is a risk of injuries when working
with hedge trimmers. It is therefore im-
perative that you adhere to special safe-
ty measures and rules of conduct when
working with hedge trimmers.
WARNING
Read all the safety notes and instructions!
Failure to adhere to the safety notes and in-
structions can lead to electric shock, fire
and/or serious injuries.
In addition to these safety instructions, the
country-related safety and training rules
(e.g. of authorities, occupational insurance
associations or social security benefits of-
fices) must be observed.
Local regulations may be in place to limit
the times during which hedge trimmers can
be used (time of day or year). Observe the
local regulations.

General notes on safety

 The user is responsible for ensuring
safe use of the hedge trimmer, particu-
larly with respect to their own health
and that of others.
 Only operate the hedge trimmer when
in good health and sufficiently rested.
The hedge trimmer must not be operat-
ed when under the influence of medica-
tion or drugs that restrict your ability to
react.
 The user must be in the physical condi-
tion to react to possibly occurring reac-
tion effects (kick-back, drawing or re-
coil) and to soften them by physical
strength.
Take breaks in order to prevent fatigue.
 The device must not be operated by mi-
nors.
 Keep children and other individuals out
of the working area during use.
 Persons with limited sensory and cogni-
tive abilities must not use this device.
 Increased risk of accident in bad weath-
er conditions. Only use the hedge trim-
mer if safe working conditions can be
guaranteed.
 Do not use the hedge trimmer on lad-
ders or other unstable surfaces.
 Only hold power tools by the insulated
handles. The cutting blade may come
into contact with hidden power cables. If
the cutting blade comes into contact
with a live cable, metal parts of the de-
vice may become charged with voltage
and cause electric shock.
 Risk from exposed blades. Always fit
the blade guard.
 Before working with the hedge trimmer,
check for damage and make sure that
the screws on the blade are firmly tight-
ened.
 Do not use the hedge trimmer with bent
or damaged blade sections.
 Do not use devices which vibrate unu-
sually or emit unusual noises.
DANGER
Long hours of using the appliance can
cause circulation problems in the hands on
account of vibrations.
It is not possible to specify a generally valid
operation time, since this depends on sev-
eral factors:
– Proneness to blood circulation deficien-
cies (cold, numb fingers).
– Low ambient temperature. Wear warm
gloves to protect hands.
– A firm grip impedes blood circulation.
– Continuous operation is worse than an
operation interrupted by pauses.
In case of regular, long-term operation of
the device and in case of repeated occur-
rence of the symptoms (e.g. cold, numb fin-
gers) please consult a physician.

Proper handling

During work
– Always hold the hedge trimmer firmly
with both hands.
Work breaks / maintenance / care
– Always remove the battery pack during
work breaks and for maintenance / care
tasks.
