LBW 18419 wall-mounted motion detector
Function
The LBW 18419 motion detector has been designed for wall mounting
and is installed in a recessed-mounted box instead of a conventional
light switch. The motion detector functions using passive infrared
technology (PIR). The device has an in-built PIR sensor that detects
moving heat sources within a field of detection of up to 180°. As the
lux and time settings are continuously variable, the lighting can be
activated in an energy-efficient way.

Safety instructions

This device must be installed by a technician in accordance
with the applicable regulations. The electrical power supply
and the circuit protection must be switched off during the
entire installation process.
Please check that the connection cable is disconnected!
Under no circumstances does the warranty cover damage resulting
from failure to observe these instructions. Nor do we accept liability
for any indirect damage. Similarly, we can accept no liability for any
material damage or bodily injury caused by mishandling or failure
to observe the safety instructions. No warranty claim may be made
in these cases. In addition, for safety and compliance reasons,
you are not authorised to dismantle or alter the device in any way.

Mounting position

Motion detection is maximised when moving at an angle to the
motion detector. Therefore, the motion detector should always be
installed in a position that ensures that objects/people do not move
directly towards the device. The LBW 18419 wall-mounted motion
detector reacts to sources of heat. To avoid switching errors, do
not install the device above heaters, near air-conditioning systems
or in areas where it is exposed to direct sunlight.
Other potential interference sources: reflective objects, such as
mirrors, or plants and curtains moved back and forth by the wind.
Installation
The optimum installation height is approx. 1.2 m. The detector can
be recessed-mounted (Fig. A). Prior to installation, detach the
sensor from the cover frame. The device can be wired according to
the required wiring diagram (Fig. B). Once the installation has been
successfully completed, you can switch the power supply back on.
You can limit the field of detection at will using the masking tape
provided (Fig. D).
Settings
You can make individual adjustments using the "Time", "Meter"
and "Lux" controllers (Fig. C). Please note that settings can only
be adjusted in auto mode.
Time setting the switch-off delay time (5 seconds - 30 minute).
When a movement is detected in test mode, the lighting and
red LED switch ON for 2 seconds then OFF again.
When a movement is detected in
"short impulse" mode,
a signal e.g. to a stairwell light timer, is sent at an interval of
1 second ON and 9 seconds OFF.
6
Meter = range of detection can be set from 2 to 8 m using the
rotary adjuster.
LUX = light value can be continuously adjusted from 5 lux to
" " using the rotary adjuster. "
" Storage of the current light
value between 5 and 2,000 lux.
You can use the slide switch (Fig. C) to select the following functions:
ON = the lighting remains switched ON for approx. 4 hours: When
you slide the switch to the left, the lighting will switch ON for approx.
4 hours. The red LED will switch ON for approx. 1 second then OFF
for approx. 5 seconds. The detector will automatically revert to "auto"
mode as soon as the 4-hour switch-off delay time has elapsed.
OFF = the lighting remains switched OFF for approx. 4 hours: When
you slide the switch to the right, the lighting will switch OFF for
approx. 4 hours. The red LED will switch ON for approx. 1 second
then OFF for approx. 5 seconds. The detector will automatically
revert to "auto" mode as soon as the 4-hour switch-off delay time
has elapsed.
AUTO = auto mode: When you slide the switch to the middle position,
the detector will automatically switch the light ON if movement is
detected in its field of detection and the light level is lower than
the preset lux value. The light will switch OFF again if no further
movement is detected during the switch-off delay time.
If the ambient light level switches from light to dark and remains
lower than the preset lux value for longer than 10 seconds, the
lighting switches ON automatically.
If the ambient light level switches from dark to light and
exceeds the preset lux value for longer than 5 minutes, the following
settings are possible:
Time > = 5 minutes, the light is automatically switched OFF after
5 minutes.
Time < 5 minutes, the light switches OFF as soon as the switch-
off delay time has elapsed if the time setting has been reached
and no movement detected. If, however, movement is detected
during the switch-off delay time, this time period will start again
from the beginning.
