SETUP AND CONNECTIONS

1
The placement of speakers is very critical and can compromise their performance. The sound is very
much influenced by the acoustic surroundings of your room. The monitor speakers should be placed in
pairs on an even surface and aligned to the ears of the listener in a regular triangle form. In order to
avoid reflections from the ceiling or floor, the tweeter should be located as high as your ears. Do not
place the speakers too close to walls or in corners. Nearfield monitors are designed to be installed as
closely as possible to the listener. The basic idea is to create a direct signal path between loudspeaker
and ear and to avoid indirect sound. Then the monitor's sound can be experienced as original as
possible.
2
Connect the signal source to the line input via XLR or 6.3 mm plugs, balanced and unbalanced. It is
possible to connect the line output of e.g. a mixer, CD player or computer.
3
Connect the supplied power supply cable to the corresponding input and the mains plug to an outlet
(AC 230 V, 50 Hz). The speaker can also be operated with AC 115 V, 60 Hz. For this purpose, set the
voltage selector switch to the 115 V position.

OPERATION

It is best to take your time and experiment with your new monitor. If possible, use well-known sound material
in order to feel the neutrality of the speaker. Experiment with different locations and positions before using
the possibilities of adapting the monitor to the room acoustics.
1
Prior to switching on, turn the VOLUME control to minimum to avoid a possible switching-on noise.
Then switch on the speaker system with the power switch. The front power indicator lights.
2
Adjust the overall volume with the VOLUME control.
3
Use the tone controls for adapting the monitor to the room acoustics. The HF LEVEL control changes
the level of the high frequencies between -2 dB and + 1 dB; in the 0 dB, the frequency response is not
affected (default). The BASS BOOST control adjusts the low frequencies 50 Hz and 100 Hz and
compensates for exaggerated low-frequency response that can be caused by reflexions in some
environments.
4
When operating the speaker system, please make sure that the loudspeakers always sound well. When
distortions can be heard, either the amplifier or the loudspeakers are overloaded. Overloads can quickly
lead to amplifier or speaker damage. In order to avoid damage, please reduce the volume immediately
when distortions can be heard. When speaker systems are destroyed by overload, the guarantee
becomes void.
5
After operation, set the VOLUME control to minimum, then switch off the speaker system with the
power switch. The power indicator extinguishes.
