Functional description

This FIDEK power amplifier is a two-channel amplifier. It is equipped with symmetrical
inputs with XLR and 6.3 mm mono jack sockets. The mono jack sockets can either be
controlled symmetrical or unsymmetrical.
A pair of stereo loudspeakers with an minimal impedance of 2 Ohm can be attached
to the loudspeaker outputs with SPEAKER jacks and screw terminals.
The power amplifier can also work as a mono power amplifier in bridge mode. This
operating mode provides a considerably higher output, yet only for one channel. The
minimal impedance is 4 Ohm in this operating mode.
The power amplifier is equipped with a subwoofer active duplexer with adjustable
cut-off frequency so that it can be used as a pure amplifier for the bass range.
Also, a LOW CUT filter can be activated to protect the amplifier and the loudspea-
kers connected to it from low-frequency noise.
A delayed switch-on function connects the loudspeakers to the loudspeaker output
only when all capacitors in the device are charged. Thus, clicking in the loudspea-
kers during power up is avoided.
The protective circuit responds to short circuits and output direct voltage and pre-
vents overheating.
In-built limiters with channel separation protect the amplifier from overloading. These
limiters can also be switched off.
The inbuilt fans are temperature-controlled and maintain the working temperature in
a safe range even at high load levels.
Using the ground lift switch, the amplifier ground can be separated from the groun-
ding of the housing in order to prevent ground loops and humming.
The operating state of the device can be easily read from the LED indicators on the
front of the device.

Should there be humming noise during
replay, set the GROUND LIFT switch
(16) to "LIFT".
When switching everything off, start with
amplifier at the POWER mains switch (1)
and only then switch off the audio sour-
ces.

Handling
• Never plug the power plug into a mains socket immediately after the device has
been taken from a cold to a warm environment. Condensation that develops may
destroy the device.
Allow the device to reach room temperature before connecting it to the
power supply. Wait until the condensation has evaporated.
• Never connect or disconnect power plugs with wet hands.
• Never disconnect power plugs from the mains socket by pulling at the cable.
Always pull out the power plug, holding it at the contact surfaces provided for this
purpose.
The connection between final stage
earth and housing earthing is separated.
This avoids ground loops (cause of
humming noise).
If you don't follow the instructions in the
specified order, clicking sounds may
result that could damage the loudspea-
kers.
The respective channel is ready for use.
There is a signal at the corresponding
output on the power amplifier.
The respective channel is or is about to
be over amplified. Please reduce the
volume (a short flash of the LED is of no
consequence).
The protection circuit of the respective
final stage branch has been triggered.
Please remove the error (see also
"Troubleshooting").
Moreover, these LEDs are lit shortly after
the amplifier is switched on, as long as
the delayed switch-on function is still
active.
