WARNING: Only a qualified technician should attempt an input voltage
change. Personel injury or equipment damage may occur if done
incorrectly.
WARNING: A voltage change or fuse replacement should only be
attempted when the power cord has been disconnected from its power
source.
[2] HT FUSE: This fuse protects the power supply in case of tube failure. If it
blows, check for a bad power tube. If tube-failure is not the cause, the
MULTITONE should be taken to a qualified service center for repair. If the fuse
should fail, it must be replaced with the same type and value to avoid
damage to the amp and to prevent voiding the warranty.
[3] CHANNELS SWITCH: Selects channels as long as the included footswitch
is not connected.
[4] FOOTSWITCH CONNECTOR: Provides an input for the footswitch and
disconnects the CHANNELS switch when the footswitch is plugged in.
FOOTSWITCH
The included FS-5 Footswitch is equipped with five switches:
- Three CHANNEL switches for selecting channels [red LED indicators].
- REVERB/FX switch for activating the reverb or the parallel effects loop (yellow
LED).
- SOLO/RHYTHM switch for activating (=Rhythm - green LED OFF) or
bypassing (=Solo - green LED ON) the Rhythm Volume control.
[5] PARALLEL - TO FX (=SEND): This jack provides a buffered mono output
from the preamp of the MULTITONE and can be used to connect an external
effects unit. This jack must be connected with the input of the effects unit (see
also CONNECTION DIAGRAM).
[6] PARALLEL - FROM FX (=RETURN): This jack provides an input for an
external effects unit and must be connected to the output of the unit. When
used, it disconnects the internal spring reverb of the MULTITONE. The
REVERB/FX MIX control allows volume adjustment of the external effects
signal.
If this loop is used, direct signal must be taken off the effects unit's signal
(for example with the effects unit's dry/wet mix control).
[7] SERIAL - TO FX (=SEND): This jack also provides a buffered mono output
from the preamp of the MULTITONE and can be used to connect an external
effects unit. This jack must be connected with the input of the effects unit (see
also CONNECTION DIAGRAM).
[8] SERIAL - FROM FX (=RETURN): This jack provides an input for an
external effects unit and must be connected to the output of the unit. When
used' it disconnects the preamp of the MULTITONE from the power amp and
therefore ot also allows the MULTITONE to be used as a "satellite" for other
preamps.
NOTE: The effect loops operate on a -10dBV signal level which guarantees
compatibility with both instrument-level effects like floor-pedals and guitar-
processors, as well as line-level effects like professional 19 inch rack mount
devices.
If connecting an effects unit to the MULTITONE causes hum, a ground-
loop may be the reason for it. This ground-loop may be eliminated by
isolating or disconnecting the effects unit's earth from the mains sockets
earth.
[9] POWER - TRIODE/PENTHODE SWITCH : Selects half (TRIODE) or full
(PENTHODE) output power. In the TRIODE position the amp has a more
vintage tone.
[10] SPEAKER OUTPUT JACKS: Provided for connection of speaker(s) or
speaker cabinet(s) with a minimum total impedance of 4, 8 or 16 ohms. (see
also CONNECTION DIAGRAM page)
WARNING: Never play the MULTITONE without a speaker connected. This
may cause serious damage to either the power tubes and/or the output
transformer. Always use speaker cable.
[11] RECORDING OUTPUT: This jack provides a frequency corrected
(simulation of a guitar speaker) mono signal and includes reverb and - if used -
external effects signals. The signal is derived from the speaker output and
therefore includes all the typical sound characteristics of power tubes. (see also
CONNECTION DIAGRAM)
