3. Preparing for use

3.1. Setting up radio

1. Remove radio from packaging.
2. Remove the protective film from the display.
3. Place the radio on a firm and level surface.
NOTE: You can fold out the support at the rear of the radio to make it stand
particularly firmly.

3.2. Inserting batteries

1. Open the battery compartment at the rear of the radio.
2. Arrange the black ribbon so that you can remove the batteries easily later.
3. Insert three type AAA batteries in the battery compartment.
IMPORTANT: Insert the batteries the right way round, as indicated on the
rear of the radio (+/–).
4. Close the battery compartment.
When the batteries get weaker, a battery symbol in the display starts flashing.
Change the batteries now. Always replace all batteries at the same time.

3.3. Using a mains adapter (optional)

• The radio can be run on mains electricity using a mains adapter (not supplied)
connected to the socket labelled D D C IN.
IMPORTANT: If you intend to use a mains adapter, check that it has the
correct voltage (see Technical data) and polarity.
