5 T ROUBLESHOOTING
5.1 GENERAL ________________________________________________________________
The troubleshooting chart below lists basic pr o blems that may occur during start-up and operation. For more detailed
information regarding the h ydraulic and electrical systems contact your area Jacobsen Dealer.
Symptoms
Engine will not start.
Engine hard to start or
runs poorly.
Engine stops.
Engine overheating.
Battery not holding
charge.
Groomer does not
react to traction pedal.
Implement does not
raise or lo wer.
Gauges/Indicator not
operating.
Possible Causes
1. Parking brake disengaged,
traction pedal not in Neu tral.
2. Battery low on charge or
defective.
3. Fuel tank emp ty or dirty. Fuel
shut off valve closed.
4. Circuit breaker blown.
1. Fuel level low , fuel or fuel filter
dirty.
2. Air cleaner dirty.
3. Injectors, fuel pump.
4. Engine problem.
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Interlocks not set before leaving
operator's seat.
1. Coolant level lo w.(Diesel)
2. Air intake restricted.
3. Water pump belt broken or
loose.(Diesel)
4. Engine overload.
1. Loose or corroded battery
terminals.
2. Low electrolyte.
3. Alternator belt loose or br o ken.
4. Charging system defective.
1. Parking brake engaged.
2. Tow Valve Open.
3. Low hydraulic oil.
1. Low hydraulic oil.
1. Fuse blown.
2. Loose wiring.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Action
1. Check Interlock System an d start-up procedure.
2. Inspect condition of battery and battery
connections.
3. Fill with fresh fuel. C hange fuel filter. Bleed fuel
lines. Open fuel shu t off valve.
4. Reset circuit breaker.
1. Fill with fresh fuel. Change fuel filter. Bleed fuel lines.
2. Inspect and replace air filter.
3. Consult engine manual.
4. Consult engine manual.
1. Fill with fresh fuel and bleed fuel lines.
2. Engage parking brake and traction pedal in Neutral.
1. Inspect and add coolant.
2. Clean cooling air intake.
3. Tighten or replace belt.
4. Reduce forward speed.
1. Inspect and clean terminals.
2. Refill to correct level.
3. Tighten or replace belt.
4. See engine manual.
Disengage parking brake.
Close Tow Valve.
Check reservoir level and fill if needed.
Check reservoir level and fill as needed.
Replace fuse, check bulb.
Check electrical connections.
