6. Ventilation

6.1. General

All models can be connected about the exhaust air outlet to a technical exhaust air
system. The prescribed air change, max. pressure drop and exhaust air flow you
will find in your country valid national regulations.
Example: Germany
According to TRbF 20 (Technical Rules for flammable liquids), appendix L and for
safety-related reasons, PROTECTO safety cabinet should be connected to a
technical exhaust air system that leads to outside at an unthreatened place. A 10-
fold air change per hour must take place inside a ventilated safety cabinet while
closed doors and the pressure drop may not be higher than 1,5 mbar (150Pa).
Check and document the air change by means of a flue tube for e.g.!
Should a PROTECTO safety cabinet be connected to an existing technical
ventilation, it must be guaranteed that the ventilation operates 24 hours a day.

6.2. Connection to an exhaust system

The exhaust and supply air openings are at the topside/backwall of the PROTECTO
safety cabinets. The adaptor is to insert at the exhaust air outlet (see draft) and to
connect to the vent duct. (Metall or fire-resistant plastic ducts). Supply air can be
taken from surroundings and no additional air supply at normal operation conditions
is needed.
Installation of a technical ventilation resp. connection to an existed exhaust air
system isn't a part of PROTECTO services. Please ask an expert near to you.
