The pull-cable linkage is prepared and installed as follows: run the braided steel
cable through an aluminium crimp sleeve, then through the cross-hole in the ring-
screw, and finally back through the crimp sleeve again.
Squeeze (crimp) the aluminium sleeve using a pair of flat-nose pliers, then solder the
loop of steel cable for additional security. Screw a plastic ball-link onto the ring-screw
as far as it will go. Press the ball-link onto the ball-end bolt, ensuring that it snaps
firmly into place. Repeat with the second pull-cable, then route both cables forward to
the rudder servo. Locate the central pivot pin on the underside of the rudder and fit it
in the hole in the aluminium bracket; insert the 2 mm Ø pivot rod from the top to
secure the rudder. The final few millimetres of the steel rod should be bent at right-
angles and secured at the top with a strip of adhesive tape; this enables you to
remove the rudder again at any time.
The pull-cables are connected to the double-ended rudder servo output lever as
shown in the photo: connect the clevises to the output arms, then slip the cables
through the aluminium sleeves, through the cross-hole in the ring-screws and back
through the crimp sleeves again. Check that the rudder and the servo are exactly at
centre, then hold the pull-cables under light tension and crimp the aluminium sleeves
firmly to secure them. Final adjustment of the linkage can be carried out by screwing
the clevises in or out on the threaded couplers.
The main wheel and tailwheel are installed using allen-head cap screws, self-locking
nuts and washers.
The main wheel is fitted using an M4 x 50 mm cap screw, one M4 self-locking nut
and eight 4.3 mm I.D. washers. Fit the screw through the axle hole, add four
washers, then the wheel, and finally four more washers before pushing the cap-head
screw right through and fitting the M4 self-locking nut on the other end. Tighten the
nut just to the point where the wheel still rotates freely, without slop. The washers are
necessary in order to centre the wheel in the opening.
The tailwheel is installed in the same manner, using a screw, a self-locking nut and a
set of washers, with the exception that the screw is an M3 cap-head type.
Saw off the projecting end of both screws, and file the cut ends back flush with the
self-locking nuts.
The aero-tow mechanism is installed in a hole which has to be drilled and filed out in
the bottom of the fuselage just aft of the battery plate former. File back the underside
of the flange of the mechanism so that the unit is a snug fit.
Install the aero-tow mechanism and epoxy it in place. Allow the resin to set hard, then
assemble the release mechanism linkage, set it to the correct length, and connect it
to the servo output arm and the release lever.
Cut out the decals from the decal sheet, cutting accurately along the outside lines.
The decals should be applied to the fuselage, tailplane and wing as shown in the
following photos. The trim stripes are applied using 2 mm wide ORALINE trim tape
after cleaning the surfaces with a mild detergent solution to remove any traces of
grease.
