5.4 Amplifier Presets and Amplifier Measuring

General
The FC-9 must have access to the amplifier data (amplification,
maximum output voltage) in order to provide maximum
protection for your speakers.
The FC-9 gives you the option of storing the data of up to 100
amplifiers and then retrieving this data again when required. The
FC-9 can automatically calculate the corresponding performance
data for any amplifier. The measured values appear in Amplifier
Setup, can be edited if necessary and then stored under a separate
name.
You can then load the stored data to all 6 output channels. Needless
to say, you can assign a separate amplifier to each output channel.
When an amplifier preset is loaded, the performance data is
calculated with reference to the speaker data and the multiband
limiter on the FC-9 is set automatically.
Loading amplifier presets
In the FC-9 preset window of the Fohhn Audio Soft, the particular
speaker preset for the output channel together with an amp preset
for your amplifier can be chosen.
Should your amp model be included in the list, you can simply load
the respective preset.
Please always make sure that the correct amplifier and speaker
presets are used.
The connected speakers and amplifier may be damaged if the
settings are incorrect!
If a suitable preset is not available for your amplifier, you can set
the FC-9 to automatically create a suitable preset for you.
Creating an amplifier preset / Automatic amplifier calibration
Before starting the calibration process, make sure that all
speakers are disconnected from the amplifiers!
Preparations
1. Disconnect all speakers from the amplifier!
2. Set the output controller on the amplifier to maximum.
3. Connect the output on the FC-9 that you would like to use for
calibration to the input on the amplifier using an XLR cable.
4. Connect the corresponding output on the amplifier to the
sense socket on the FC-9 using a Speakon cable.
Calibration process
1. Start the „Fohhn Amplifier Setup": „Programes – Fohhn Audio
AG"
2. Pick the FC-9 from the list and choose „continue" - all the
current amp presets in the FC-9 will be loaded.
3. Now all the presets stored in the FC-9 are displayed in a list.
The amplifier data can be manually edited, saved or loaded from
a file. (Only one amplifier per file can be saved.)
To measure a new amplifier, select a preset, click "Options" and
choose "Measure new amplifier".
