11. Trouble shooting
HEIDENHAIN 5041 is a very reliable
digital readout. Defects tan, however,
occur due to mishandling of the unit.
The following will assist in detecting and
remedying such defects:
Defect
Display fails to illuminate
Cause
1. No mains power supply
2. Mains switch has not been engaged
Remedy
Check
Check
Counter fails to operate
3. Mains fuse defective
Mains voltage does not correspond to
Display with very low illumination
rated voltage on rear Panel of counter
Replace mains fuse
Check that rated voltage corresponds to
mains voltage.
If different:
Operate voltage selector
(220 V- or 115 V-)
Normal illumination of display, however,
no Change in display values
1, Transducer not connected to counter
2. Break in connection cable to
transducer
3. Lamp failure within scanning head
Check
Replace scanning head andlor extension
cable or return equipment to supplier.
Replace scanning head or return equip-
ment for repair.
How to replace scanning head
Disassemble one of the end fixing
brackets of transducer
i.e. 4 cheese head screws
1 fixing bolt (to machine).
. Remove scanning head from machine
and slide out of scale unit. Insert new
scanning head in the same manner.
. Replace end fixing bracket to scale unit
Reseal with suitable sealing compound
e.g. FD-Plast.
Replace fixing bolt for scale unit end
bracket.
Remount scanning head.
Counting takes place only in the finest
decade
Normal counting procedure, however,
no illumination of one or more Segments
Failure of MEMOSET-feature
. Check all alignments and functioning of
System (see mounting instructions).
Signal 0"el. (leI) or 90" el. Replace scanning head (procedure as
(Ie*) missing
above) and/or extension cable, or return
equjpment for repair.
Defective 7segment display or decoder
Replace defective chip or return
chip equipment for repair
Faulty counter or transducer
Replace counter and/or scanning head
incl. extension cable or return equipment
for repair
In case of any faults other than listed above, we recommend returning the equipment for repair
