Placing The System In Operation; Maintenance And Cleaning - Conrad PS 405 Pro Bedienungsanleitung

The output voltage of "OUTPUT A" can be fine and coarse adjusted. The output cur-
rent can be limited. The voltage and the current are rendered in displays "1" and "2".
By pressing button "6", the output voltage of "OUTPUT B" can be read in display "1"
whilst the voltage is adjusted with controller "7".
The secondary DC connection is established for the two extra-low voltage outputs
by means of two coloured safety sockets (black = negative pole, red = positive pole).
The power supply unit is cooled by convection. For this reason, make sure there is
an adequate air circulation and lateral distance to obstacles.
The power supply unit has a burnout protection which becomes active in case of an
overload. The active protective shut-down circuit is indicated by the "TEMP" display
(4). During the cooling down phase the outputs are switched off and are switched on
again automatically when the correct operating temperature has been made.

Placing the system in operation

General aspects
A protective contact power cable (not included with delivery) is required to operate
the power supply. Plug the power cable into the rear side of the protective contact
cold device connector of the power supply and the earthed plug into a protective
contact power socket.
The power supply is not a battery charging unit. To charge batteries, use suitable
chargers with a charging current cut-off.
Make certain that no loads are connected on the power supply and turn on the pow-
er supply with the On/Off switch (2).
The two power supply outputs are potential free and can be connected to each oth-
er as well as with earth potential.
Voltage setting of "OUTPUT A"
• Turn the adjustment controller for the current limitation (11) clockwise a bit. The
display for current limitation "CC" (5) goes off and the voltage limitation display
"CV" (3) will be lit.
• Use the adjustment controller "COARSE" (13) to roughly set the requested output
voltage; use the controller "FINE" (12) to fine-adjust the voltage.
• The current direct voltage value will be shown in the display (1).
Voltage setting of "OUTPUT B"
• Press pushbutton "6" and keep it pressed.
• The current voltage of "OUTPUT B" will be shown in display "1".
• Use the adjustment controller "VOLT ADJ" (7) to set the requested output voltage.
• Release the pushbutton again after the setting has been made.

Adjustment of the current limitation of "OUTPUT A"
• Turn the adjustment controller for the current limitation (11) counter clockwise to
stop. The display for current limitation (5) will be lit and the voltage limitation dis-
play (3) will go off.
• Close the connection sockets "10" briefly.
• Use the adjustment controller "AMPERE" (11) to set the maximum permissible out-
put current. The output current can be read in the display (2).
• Now switch off the power supply unit and remove the short circuit from the socket
first of all as otherwise a breaking spark is produced which may damage the pow-
er supply unit or the connection cable.
• Subsequently switch the power supply unit on again.
• The current limitation is now active when the maximum current draw is exceeded.
Connecting a load
• Make sure the consumer is switched off.
• Verify that the correct output voltage has been set.
• Connect the positive pole (+) of the consumer to the red connection socket "+"
and
• the negative pole (-) of the consumer to the black connection socket "-".
• The connection can be established by a 4 mm standard plugs or by laboratory
measuring cables.
Make sure that the consumer is switched off when the power supply
unit is connected. Sparks may be generated by an active consumer
when connected to the terminal connectors, which may damage the
terminal connectors as well as the connected cables.

Maintenance and cleaning

The power supply is maintenance-free, apart from the need to replace fuses and
clean them once in a while.
Use a clean, lint-free, antistatic and slightly moist cloth to clean the device. Do not
use any abrasive or chemical detergents or detergents containing solvents.
Caution: Always disconnect the power plug from the mains sock-
et before cleaning the device.
Replacing the fuse
If it is no longer possible to switch on the power supply, the mains fuse has probably
tripped.
