GENERAL
The LAKE PEOPLE DAC C462 is intended to
operate digital microphones in an analogue
environment without additional appliances.
For that purpose it offers everything what is
useful and necessary:
- AES-42 input for digital microphones
- Phantom power (10V, 250mA) for digital
microphones switchable
- Digital gain selectable on the front panel
in 8 steps of 6 dB from 0 ... 42 dB
- Digital output (AES-3) with the output signal
either with or without gain
- Peak-level display with 4 LEDs
- 2 balanced analogue outputs with adjustable
gain in 5 steps via dip-switches
- Powerful headphone amplifier with dedicated
volume control, switchable to left, right, or
stereo signal
The digital input accepts signals according to
AES-42, of coarse here also AES-3 signals
may be applied. The input is transformer
balanced with high sensitivity of < 200mV. The
10 Volt phantom supply which is necessary to
operate digital microphones may be switched
from the front panel.
Two LEDs (Lock, Error) indicate the presence
of a valid input signal.
The digital input signal may be amplified in 8
steps of 6 dB from 0 ... +42 dB by means of a
rotary switch located on the front panel.
A 4-step LED display informs about the actual
signal level.
A XLR socket on the back panel carries the
digital signal which is output as a transformer
balanced AES-3 signal. It may be either with
or without gain.
C462 offers a D/A converter which accepts up
to 24 bit wide digital signals with a sample rate
up to 210 kHz. They are converted into
analogue signals with 113 dB dynamic range
and THD < -101 dB.
The analogue output terminals are also located
on the rear panel. Signal is available via
electronically balanced XLR connectors. With
the aid of internal dip-switches the analogue
output level can be calibrated in 5 steps.

Ex works the output level is adjusted to +15
dBu for 0 dBFs.
Additionally DAC C462 provides a powerful
headphone amplifier. Level may be controlled
by a volume pot on the front. A headphone is
connected through a ¼" socket on the front.
The headphone signal can be directed to the
left, the right or the stereo signal by means of
push button.
THE CASE
The grounded case is made of 1 - 3 mm thick
stainless steel. This provides high mechanical
stability and resistance against rough handling.
The surfaces of the case are not treated with
any material, so providing excellent electrical
conductances for optimum EMC character-
istics.

connected together.

appliance should only be operated with the
provided wall plug adaptor.
Other power sources may be used under the
following circumstances:
The power source shall deliver a proper AC or
DC voltage within the range of 8 ... 25 Volt.
The power source shall be able to deliver 1.5
times the current which is marked on the back
of the unit and in the technical data.
Voltages exceeding 25 V may cause serious
damages which are not covered by the
warranty.
The unit is protected against reversed polarity.
