Level -36 dBFs and –24 dBFs are indicated by
green LEDs, -12 dBFs is indicated by a yellow
LED while –6 dBFs is indicated by a red LED.
THE D/A CONVERTER
The converter used inside DAC C462 is of
latest technology. It accepts up to 24 bit digital
data and supports up to 210 kHz sample-rate.
The achievable dynamic range exceeds 113
dB with THD+N at –101 dB.
THE ANALOG OUTPUTS
The D/A part´s analog outputs are located on
the rear panel and equipped with electronically
balanced XLR terminals according to AES 14-
1992 recommendations:
1 = Ground, 2 = (+) Phase, 3 = (-) Phase
Output impedance is 30 Ohms approx.
HINT:
In case of unbalanced termination of the
outputs the "remaining" pin (mostly pin 3) must
be left open and not tied to ground to avoid
unwanted distortion of the output stage.
The unbalanced signal will have –6 db less
level.
THE ANALOG OUTPUT LEVEL
The level on the line outputs may be varied by
internal DIP-switches inside the unit. The
analogue outputs may be fixed to +24 / +18 /
+15 / +12 / +6 dBu for digital full scale signals
(0 dBFs). Ex works the calibration is +15 dBu.

THE HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER
DAC C462 also offers a powerful headphone
amplifier
The output of the headphone amplifier is
situated on the front panel and equipped with a
6,3 mm (1/4") stereo socket.
The wiring meets the standard:
Tip = left, Ring = right, Sleeve = ground
+ U
- U (Ground)
Volume may be adjuste by means of the
"PHONES VOLUME" pot on the front panel.
With the "MODE" switch either the left signal,
the right signal or the stereo signal may be
applied to the headphone.
Under normal circumstances the volume pot
should be situated in the middle of the scale.
To optimize the headphone amplifier
different headphones, the unit offers internal
jumpers to change the amplifier gain relative to
the analogue output level. –6 / 0 / +6 dB are
selectable.
Ex works the unit is adjusted to 0 dB.
(see also technical appendix on page 14)
The headphones are driven by a specially
designed amplifier. It is long term short-circuit
proof and over-temperature protected. Even
extremely low impedance termination or short
circuits will not damage the unit - but may
occasionally activate the protection circuitry !!
