GENERAL INFORMATION

The LAKE PEOPLE SRC F24 is a high-end
asynchronous sample-rate converter. Locked to ei-
ther its internal or an external sync source, it con-
verts digital audio sample frequencies within a ran-
ge from 50....200 %, whereas the actual sampling
rate may stretch from 28 to 56 kHz.
The unit contains a DSP AD-1890 chip by Analog
Devices, specially developed for this purpose. Its
internal clock rate exceeds 3 GHz.
The SRC F24 is fully varispeed compatible!!
The word lenght at the input may equal 20 bit, whi-
le output word lenght is 24 bit.
During sampling down, the audio frequency range
of the digital signal is automatically adapted to the
output sample-rate selected.
In its basic version, the SRC F24 is equipped with
three digital inputs, AES/EBU, S/P-DIF coaxial
plus S/P-DIF optical. The desired input is activated
by pushbuttons on the front panel. LEDs display
the input clock rate detected, as well as professi-
onal or consumer status.
External sync may be injected either as AES/EBU-
Sync via XLR-Socket or WCKL-Sync signal via
BNC, selectable by pushbuttons on the front panel.
The sampling rate - resulting from the sync signal
injected
-
is
indicated.
(PRO/CON) can either be set automatically accor-
ding to the input or selected manually by pushbut-
ton.
Two digital outputs, both AES/EBU and optical
S/P-DIF, carry the converted output signal. LEDs
inform about the actual delay and lock times,
which can either be optimized automatically or set
manually.
All settings are held in memory and are recalled
with the next power-up.
The following options are available:
- SDIF-2 input
- internal oscillator with 44.1 and 48 kHz
- RS-232 interface for monitoring and editing of
channel status and user data

THE CASE
The grounded case is made of 3 mm aluminium
and 1.25 mm steel sheet, thus providing high me-
chanical stability and ruggedness even under
tough handling circumstances.

POWER SUPPLY

Mains voltage is connected via an IEC-CEE socket
with integrated fuse holder, easily accessible from
the outside. Mains voltage can be switched inter-
nally between 230 and 115 VAC. The power
switch is located on the front panel. Active status is
indicated by an LED next to the power switch. A
generously dimensioned toroidal transformer deli-
vers the internal supply voltages.
POWER-UP
When turned on, the unit runs a two-second boot
routine. During this period, all LEDs stay lit and the
outputs are muted. Thereafter, the CPU recalls the
settings stored at the end of the preceding sessi-
on.

DIGITAL INPUTS

The digital inputs (AES/EBU and S/P-DIF) are si-
tuated on the rear panel.
The AES/EBU input is equipped with an XLR-type
socket, is transformer balanced with 110 ohms im-
pedance and meets the AES standard 3-1992.
The coaxial S/P-DIF input is equipped with a BNC
connector, unbalanced at 75 ohms, according to
IEC 958.
The optical S/P-DIF input is equipped with a TOS-
LINK TORX 176, according to EIAJ RC-5720.
Optionally, the unit comes equipped with an additi-
onal SDIF-2 input. Via three BNC connectors,
word clock, left data and right data are injected.
These inputs are unbalanced at 75 ohms impedan-
ce.
