GENERAL
LAKE PEOPLE A/S-CON C25 is a digital format
converter intended to alter incoming (transfor-
mer-) balanced digital audio signals according
to AES 3-1992 into S/DIF-2 signals.
Additionally A/S-CON C25 offers the possibilty
also to alter coaxial and optical signals accor-
ding to IEC 958 respectively EIAJ RC-5720
(S/P-DIF standard) into S/DIF-2 signals.
All inputs and outputs are made according to
their standards except the coaxial input, which
offers a BNC terminal instead of a chinch
socket.
One of the three inputs may be selected by
means of a front mounted switch.
Up to 20 bit of the incoming audio data are
transmitted into S/DIF-2 dataword. 24 bit inco-
ming audio data is truncated to 20 bit.
Also, the emphasis flag is transmitted into
S/DIF-2 data.
The incoming sample rate and the emphasis
status are indicated by LEDs on the frontpanel.
THE CASE
The earthed case is made of 3 mm aluminium
and 1.25 mm steel sheet and therefore with-
stands even rough operational conditions.
Internal signal ground and case ground are not
connected together.

THE POWER SUPPLY

Mains supply is made with a fixed 3-wire cable
with earth contact.
The unit must be suppied with a mains input of
200 ... 240 Volt AC.A special make for 110 V
supply is deliverable on request.
The power switch is located on the front panel.
The internal DC voltage is made with a highly
effective switchmode supply.
THE CONNECTORS
The connectors of A/S-CON C25 are situated
on the back of the case.
The AES/EBU input and S/DIF-2 output sockets
are made according to the standards.
The optical input of the S/P-DIF input features a
TOS-Link terminal, the coaxial input comes with
a BNC connector.
The electrical parameters on all inputs and out-
puts are according to the standards.
The balanced input and the coaxial input are
decoupled with transformers.
The S-DIF 2 outputs are unbalanced with a
source impedance of 75 ohms.
THE FUNCTION
A switch on the front panel is used to select one
of three inputs.
LEDs on the front inform about the sample-rate
and the emphasis status.
The incoming digital audio signal is converted
inside the unit into a signal according to S/DIF-2
standard and is led to the according outputs.
The sample-rate may be in a range of 41 ...
49.5 kHz.
The sample-rate and the emphasis status of the
incoming signal is not altered during proces-
sing.
The emphasis flag and the blockstart informati-
on is output on both S/DIF-2 channels, accor-
ding to the standards.
