9. Maintenance

Daily maintenance
1.
Keep the packing nut/wet container on the pump lubricated with piston oil to protect the piston rod and the
packing.
2. Check the packing nut daily. If paint escapes through the nut and/or if the piston moves up (although no spraying
is taking place) up, tighten the nut until the leak has been sealed. If the nut is over tightened, this can damage the
packing and reduce its service life.
Maintaining the electric motor
Lubrication
The motor is supplied with lifetime lubricated ball bearings.

Carbon brushes

The carbon brushes must be checked at regular intervals and replaced depending on wear. New carbon brushes have an
initial length of 25.4 mm and should be replaced once they have worn down to 12.7 mm. Brush wear mainly depends
on the application in hand; we recommend checking brush wear at regular intervals in order to assess when servicing
will be required in future.
How to replace the brushes:
1.
Remove the device's mains plug.
2. Remove the motor cover (if it exists).
3. Open the two covers on the reverse of the motor.
4. Interrupt the brush cable.
5. Remove the cable.
6. Push the brush holding clamp inward and out again.
7. Replace worn brushes:
8. Follow the steps in reverse order for installing new brushes.
To enhance the service life of the new brushes, they need a run-in time. Prepare the spraying
device for spraying after replacing the brushes. Provide a bucket with Coro-Check and water and
connect a 15 m ¼ inch airless hose, and an airless gun; mount a nozzle on the unit, open the venti-
lation/pressure relief valve and switch the device on. The pump is now ventilated. While the pump
is running in ventilation mode, turn the pressure regulation button to high pressure. (The pump
must run quickly without any pressure in the pump.) Operate the pump for 20 minutes; the brushes
are now ready for operation.
