Instructions on Protection from ESD

The module is fitted with components
sensitive to electrostatic. These can be
irreparably damaged or their service life
impaired by the effect of an electric field or
an electrostatic discharge on touching.
For this reason, the module is shipped
packed in a conductive bag that provides
protection from ESD. The packing can be
reused.
It is imperative that the following protective
measures be observed for modules at risk
from electrostatic:
• Before you commence work on one of the
modules at risk, form an equipotential
bond between yourself and the
surrounding environment, e.g. using a wrist
strap clamped to the Base Unit: it is
imperative that the Base Unit be earthed
via the earth terminal during this process!

• Only remove the module from the
conductive bag now.
• Only store the module outside of the Base
Unit in a conductive bag that provides
protection from ESD.

electrostatic, field equipment for ESD protec-
tion is available.
