Preparing drinks (e.g. espresso)

The appliance automatically switches itself off after 90 seconds. This means
that you have to switch the appliance on again by pressing any button be-
fore preparing drinks. Now carry out steps 3-5 of the initial start-up instructions again
WITHOUT inserting a capsule.
If you are preparing a drink using milk capsules (e.g. latte macchiato), please observe
the relevant instructions on the JAVA Capsule System capsule packaging.
NOTE! The appliance can be used to make drinks of different sizes. Use the
upper drip tray slot for smaller cups / espresso drinks (see left image) and the
slot below for lungo drinks (see image in the middle). The drip tray has to be
removed before extra-large cups or glasses can be placed under the spout in
order to make a latte macchiato or similar.
Once the drink has been made, the drip tray should be put back under the
spout straight away.
