INTRODUCTION
Despitethe limited dimensionsto whichany car radio is restricted,
this new set has been so ingeniously designed, both mechanically
and electrically, that it offers a full range of desirable facilities
such as stereo reception of FM programmes, stereo playback of
cassettes and a choice of 6 preselected stations. But the controls
are clearly and logically arrangedand the set, despite its compli-
cations, is simple to operate — a very important consideration in
connection
with comfort
and safety.
We suggest you read the following instructions carefully. If you do,
we can promise you no end of enjoyment from your set.
RADIO
Manual
tuning
Switch the set on and adjust the volume with knob O. Select the
desired wave band by depressing knob @ one or more times, as
required, until the colour on indicator O is the sameas the colour
codeO of thewavebandyouwant.Tunein with knobO.
TURNOLOCK
Your set has an ingenious preselection system. By depressing the
Turnolock (knob @) you can tune in to six different stations, the
desired wave band being selected automatically. The preselection
procedure is as follows:
—Switch the set on and select the desired wave band by de-
pressing knob@ oneor moretimesuntil indicator@ displays
the colour corresponding to that wave band.
— Now tune in accurately to the desired station.
—Each time this colour and a particular figure are shown on the
indicator after depressing knob @ you will receive the station
thus preselected.
Manualtuningto any desiredstationin the wavebandconcerned
is possible in each of the indicator positions.
FM stereo reception
If you are receivingan FM stereoprogramme, s tereoindicatorO
lights up provided it has not been depressed. If the stereo signal
is too weak, the set automatically changes over to mono reception.
In fringe areas where this occurs frequently (causing the pilot lamp
to flicker) it is advisable to switch over to mono by depressing
button O. Alternatively, it will often be possible to receive the
same programme on another channel.
Interference
Absorption
Hitherto reception of FM-stereo signals in a motor car has been
very difficult, mainly becausethe complex stereo-multiplexsignal
is very sensitive to interference. Interference caused by other
motor vehicles, in particular, is very annoying. In your new set this
problem has been solved with the newly developed Interference
Absorption Circuit. This complex electronic circuit ingeniously
removes practically all interferences from the FM signal. As a
result FM reception and, in particular, FM stereo playback is of a
very high quality and interference-free under normal conditions.
Tone
and balance
control
Your set has a combined bass/treble tone control (knob O). When
this knob is in its central position (you will feel a click), tone
control does not affect the sound: you will then hear treble and
bass in equal proportion. The proportion of treble to bass notes
is reduced by turning knob @ anti-clockwise and that of bass to
treble by turning
it clockwise.
The volume of one loudspeaker relative to the other can be ad-
justed by turning the balancecontrol (knobO).
Aerial adjustment
The aperture @ in the bottom right-hand corner of the dial is for
adjusting the aerial. However, the aerial has already been adjusted
at the installation and the adjustment should not be changed.
