The cell constant depends on the physical dimensions of the platinum
plates, which are coated with a spongy black platinum deposit. This
increases greatly the effective surface and reduces polarising effects.
Since the coating of platinum black is quite resistant to chemical action,
the cell constant remains fairly constant during the electrode life time.
1.
Select the desired conductivity channel with
2.
Remove the cell from its fitting and rinse it with distilled water. After
rinsing the cell several times with the standard solution, immerse it in
that standard. The solution temperature is not so critical but should lie
between 0°C and 30°C.
3.
Press
or
until the display shows [Auto] and press CAL to start
the automatic calibration procedure.
4.
The display shows one of the KCl standard solutions in memory
[St=0.01M], [St=0.1M], or [St=1M]. Select the proper standard with
or
and press CAL.
5.
The display will show the computed cell constant e.g. [cc=1.045] and
will calibrate automatically when readings are stable ([=] stops
blinking and e.g. [µS=1413] is shown). Press CAL to continu or press
SET to cancel.
6.
After rinsing the cell with distilled water, insert it back in its fitting and
start the EC control.

∗ The instrument will refuse automatic standardisation when readings
are unstable.

2.
Verify if the attached cell is completely dry.
3.
Press
or
until the display shows [COMP] and press CAL to start
the automatic compensation procedure.
4.
The display will show [COMP.on] or [COMP.OFF]. Select [COMP.on]
with
or
and press CAL to start the automatic capacitance
compensation. The display will show [WAit] for a while.
5.
Press SET to continu.

2.
Measure the real conductivity value of processed liquid with an other
electrode and meter.
3.
Press
or
until the display shows [ShiFt] and press CAL to start
the automatic calibration procedure.
4.
The display shows e.g. [µS=713] while [=] is blinking as long as
readings are not stable. Shift to the real value with
stops blinking, and press CAL to return to the measurements. Press
SET here if you wish to return to the original readings.
