If one lever cannot be pushed through entirely, reduce the cable
tension by loosening the opposite cable adjuster until a well-defined
shifting function is reached. Opposed to a derailleur shifting system
there should be a little bit of sag in the cable tension (few millimeters of
lever movement before the cable is completely tight). Otherwise when
you push one lever, the other inactive side of the ratchet mechanism will
not be correctly released and malfunctions may occur.
If one lever can be pushed through without or with only partial shifting
function, fasten the cable adjuster on the same side. In case the adjuster
doesn't have enough adjustment range, refasten the shifter cables with
a little more tension, as described in step 4.
6 Cut the shifter cables with a minimum 10 mm overlap and mount the
wire end caps.
Important notes regarding maintenance:
If necessary, especially after a short runin phase of the Shift:R, repeat
step 5. Doing so compensates the initial settling of the cables and end
caps. Therefore always pay attention to deficient shifting capacity as
well as potential delay of shifting activation. These signs indicate the
need for a readjustment of the cable tension. To ensure free movement
and thus optimal functionality of the shiftbox, regularly lubricate the
box. This should be conducted if necessary, at the latest when changing
the oil of your Speedhub (every 5000 km or at least once per year).
Use 510 drops of low viscosity oil with maximum SAE10. Do not use
highly viscous lubricants or grease, as those would deteriorate the free
movement of the shiftbox. Cover your disc brake to prevent oil spill.
