Mini smoke detector

Intended use
The mini smoke detector uses the scattered light principle and already detects the smallest
amounts of smoke particles penetrating its housing. Installation and operation must be carried
out in dry and dust-free interiors, where under normal use no steam or smoke development
occurs (e.g., kitchens, open fires).
The mini smoke detector is used for the early detection of smoke formation in private living
rooms and bedrooms, and as soon as smoke is detected it emits a loud alert to warn the
residents early on.
The mini smoke detector is powered by a permanently installed, non-replaceable battery. Its
lifetime/service life is approx. 10 years.
For safety and approval reasons, you may not convert and/or alter the product. If you use the
product for purposes other than those described above, you may inflict damage on it. Further-
more, improper use involves risks such as short-circuits, fire, electric shocks, etc. Please read
the operating instructions carefully and do not discard them. If you pass the product on to a third
party, please hand over these operating instructions as well.

a) General information
• The product is not a toy. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows or falls even
from a low height.
• Do not carelessly cast aside the packaging material. It may become a dangerous
plaything for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong vibrations
and combustible gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not use the product in rooms with adverse environmental conditions, where
combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a danger of
explosion!
• Never expose the product to mechanical stress.
• Do not stick anything over the product (e.g., wallpaper); do not varnish/paint!

• If safe operation is no longer possible, take the device out of service and secure

it against unintended use. Safe operation is no longer possible, if the product:
- has visible damage,
- no longer functions properly,
- has been stored under adverse ambient conditions for an extended period of
time or
- has been exposed to considerable strain during transport.
• If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to safely
connect it, consult a trained technician.
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair work may be carried out only by an expert or
a specialised workshop.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating instructions,
please contact our technical customer service or other professionals.
b) Battery instructions
• The mini smoke detector battery cannot be replaced. The mini smoke detector is
ready for use as soon as it is installed on the mounting plate.
A small plastic lug in the mounting plate actuates a switch in the mini smoke de-
tector. This prevents premature battery discharge for as long as the mini smoke
detector is not yet installed.
• The battery will last up to 10 years from the day it is first used.
• If the mini smoke detector indicates an empty battery, do not replace the battery
with a new one. The entire mini smoke detector must be replaced with a new one.
The reason is, that in the course of time minute dust particles or other deposits
settle in the smoke chamber or the sensors of the mini smoke detector and thus
safe operation is no longer ensured.
Naturally, this is also true for other smoke detectors you may use - replace them
with new ones after max. 10 years of service.
General information
The mini smoke detector is used to alert of smoke generated by fire by a loud alarm signal.
It is capable to alert of smoke in a room of up to 10 x 10 m (depending on local conditions).
Also, people asleep will wake up by the loud warning signal that is triggered in the event of
an alarm.
Thanks to the sensitive sensor in the mini smoke detector, you are thus warned in advance and
have enough time to leave the place of the fire.
The mini smoke detector responds to smoke only and not to gases, heat or fire.
Selecting the installation location
General information
A fire is not necessarily dangerous because of the flame, but due to the toxic smoke produced
during combustion. A few breaths, especially while asleep, can already lead to unconscious-
ness. This is why the site of the installation must be chosen carefully.
