If, after connecting the case to an on-board voltage socket, no function of the devices is
apparent, please check this possibility as well.
Using the adapter cable ART-000326 with its open cable end, various customer-specific
plugs can be assembled for connection to a 12 V DC voltage source. Please note that all
plugs or connecting elements used must be approved by the manufacturer for at least 5A
continuous current.
Pay attention to the type of attachment described by the manufacturer in order to mini-
mize contact resistance and ensure a safe current flow.
Wire color at the open end: brown = +12 V ; blue = ground

The Neutrik PowerCON True1 power connector on the BSS case (Fig. 25) provides a secure
and professional power supply solution for de-
manding applications. Its mechanical locking
mechanism reliably prevents accidental discon-
nection during operation.
The robust construction and high-quality con-
tacts ensure a long service life and reliable
power transmission.
For safety reasons, the system may only be oper-
ated with original PowerCON True1 cables.
SDI/HDMI converter (option)
Operating with additional SDI converters allows compatible devices to
be connected directly to the case, eliminating the need for extra exter-
nal cabling.
Please note that additional operating instructions must be observed.

Installation Bay for an External MicroSD Card Reader
The Rodecaster Video features a MicroSD card slot on its rear side, allowing photos or
videos to be stored and used directly for streaming, for example.
To optionally expand this slot externally, the BSS Case for the Rodecaster Video includes an
installation bay located behind the power switch on the top panel (Fig. 26). But why is this
slot not equipped by default?

Technical Background
MicroSD cards do not have a mechanical lock.
Unlike standard SD cards, MicroSD cards are not designed with a physical locking mech-
anism. This means that while they do stay in the slot, they can be pulled out with some
effort—using, for example, tweezers or a small tool.
This design makes sense, as the card is almost completely recessed inside the device.
However, this becomes problematic when using an adapter cable for an external slot:
even slight movement of the cable can interrupt the connection—making it unreliable.
External SD Card Readers Are Not Reliably Recognized by the Rodecaster
Technically, MicroSD extension cables
are not part of the official specifica-
tion and are considered special-use
solutions.
How often and how consistently a de-
vice checks its card slot depends on
the manufacturer. The Rodecaster
checks the slot only once at startup.
An externally connected card reader
does not consistently pass this check
to the device so the Rodecaster can-
not reliably detect whether a card is
present or not.
The Better Solution: RODE Central + USB-C
The most reliable and convenient way to transfer data is via the RODE Central software.
Once the Rodecaster is connected to a PC or Mac via USB-C, the inserted MicroSD card
becomes directly accessible—without needing to remove the card or use an external
reader.
Recommendation:
Insert a MicroSD card with sufficient capacity during the initial setup of the Rodecaster
inside the BSS Case and use RODE Central to manage and transfer data.
Installation Bay for Future Expansion
The installation bay is designed to fit standard MicroSD card readers.
Should RØDE update the functionality of the Rodecaster Video's MicroSD interface dur-
ing its product lifecycle so that cards can be reliably recognized through an external
reader, one can be easily and inexpensively retrofitted.
