Introduction
The ROBOVIEW vision shield is a vision shield for installation in
automated welding systems Darkening is activated through the robot
controller or PLC without the disadvantages of optical arc detection The
light transmission can be adjusted by the rotary dial
Range of Application
This vision shield is suitable for monitoring the intended processes
in a welding cell The integrated UV/IR filter reliably protects the user
from hazardous radiation This vision shield is not personal protective
equipment (PPE) in the sense of EU Directive 2016/425
Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions before using the ROBOVIEW Check
the correct installation and connection as well as the correct mounting
of the front screens For more information, contact your official dealer
Precautionary Measures & Protection Restriction / Risks
The welding process releases heat and radiation that can cause eye
and skin injuries This product provides protection for the eyes and face
against ultraviolet and infrared radiation regardless of the brightness
setting Optrel assumes no liability if the vision shield is not used as
intended or in accordance with the instructions for use The vision shield
is suitable for all common welding processes except laser welding
The vision shield may impair color perception due to the light transmission
of the blackout filter As a result, signal lights or warning displays may
not be seen
Warning: The vision shield is not personal protective equipment (PPE)
In case of danger from flying parts or particles, an additional protective
screen may be necessary
Warranty & Liability
For warranty conditions, please refer to the information provided by
optrel's national sales department For further information, please
contact your authorized dealer Warranty is only granted for material
and manufacturing defects In the event of damage due to improper use,
unauthorized intervention or use not intended by optrel, the warranty and
liability are void Liability and warranty are also void if spare parts other
than those distributed by the manufacturer are used
Expected Lifespan
The ROBOVIEW vision shield has no expiration date The product can be
used as long as the product is not damaged or malfunctioning
Storage
The vision shield should be stored at room temperature and low humidity
Installation (mechanical)
The installation consists of the following steps:
- Preparation of the installation aperture
- Mounting ROBOVIEW in the installation aperture
- Connecting to the robot controller or PLC
- Programming the robot controller or PLC
The installation site must be flat and must not vibrate during operation
Preparation of the installation aperture
Cut a rectangular opening in the wall of the welding cell with the dimensions
358mm x 302mmm
Drill the fixing holes
Deburr the opening and apply a sealant if the material is susceptible to
corrosion
Mounting ROBOVIEW in the installation aperture (a second person
is necessary)
Insert the sight protection window from the outside of the cell so that the
control dial faces outward
Insert the fastening screws and have the second person secure them to
the inner frame with the screw nuts on the inside of the cell
Connection (Electrical)
Due to the extremely low current consumption (10mA max), a separate
power supply is not required in order to simplify the cabling effort
Connecting to the robot controller
Connect the earth
Connect the control line
Programming the robot controller or PLC
The control output for the ROBOVIEW should be set to HIGH at least
500ms before the arc is ignited This achieves a pre-darkening of the
arc After the end of the welding process, set the control output to LOW
again This ensures a clear view into the welding cell without darkening
Usage
The darkening function is controlled by the robot controller or PLC The
light transmission can be adjusted as desired with the control dial
Maintenance
The front shield(s) must be replaced with new shield(s) if they become
dirty or discolored Carefully inspect the glass of the vision shield for
mechanical damage (cracks) If cracked, the vision shield must not be
used anymore and must be covered with a ???
Replacing the front screen(s)
1 Care must be taken when changing the vision shield DO NOT
mechanically stress the glass of the vision shield
2 Remove the front screen(s) by removing the retaining screws
3 Mount the new front screen(s) using the retaining screws
Troubleshooting
The vision shield does not darken
→ Control signal missing
The darkening is insufficient
→ Select a darker setting on the rotary dial.
→ Check control signal
Poor vision through the screen
→ Replace the front screen(s)
